I've had my 2020 Taycan 4S for about a month... and it came with all updates done. One minor issue - I can't seem to find local businesses/locations on the Porsche Nav system on the PCM when doing a search. The local business will not show up, but the system will instead prompt choices of businesses and locations in other states and even continents 🙃
I don't have the Google search option I've seen mentioned on my Porsche Nav PCM search either.

I've tried to find the same location in the MyPorsche app and it'll find it. (As another issue, I don't have the "send to vehicle" button, but assumed it's because I'm not signed up for the Porsche Connect subscription..(?) )

I shrug it off and tend to use Android Auto for Waze and Google Maps, but it would be nice to be able to use the Porsche Nav as well.

Do others have this experience? Is there some sort of update that needs to be done to focus the map on local businesses? to use a Google search?
Also, does anyone know if I can enable "send to vehicle" on the app as well without paying for Porsche connect subscription?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Nothing new, just shitty porsche software.

You need to buy porsche connect subscription, press the G icon for google, and then it will find them.

Aka, they made a problem to sell the solution :D Penny pinching "premium" brand

Try Google search in Nav.

Thanks, but unfortunately as I noted in my original post, I do not have Google search in my nav... I don't know why (maybe because I don't have a Porsche connect subscription?)

The driving experience is great, the build quality is premium, but the software and the penny pinching for what should be standard options... is not great.

you need the connect subscription for the online services to work.

I'm a recent Taycan owner and I'm in the same situation, no Porsche Connect subscription, and Porsche navigation only knows actual addresses - not names of businesses nor landmarks.

I used Android Auto to do navigation but then instructions don't show up on the HUD (which I really like). So I look up the address for the location that I want to navigate to on my phone, then enter it into the Porsche navigation. Also, by using Porsche nav, I'll get help with charging stops on longer drives.

Yeah.. I sometimes do something similar.
In my experience, Porsche Nav struggles with local addresses too... suggesting addresses all over the world as I type.
It's a minor annoyance, but wish it were better.

What am I missing....? I usually use Android Auto and Waze anyway.... and most of my drives are short drives, and I charge at home - so don't need to find chargers. I will get the subscription if it adds value to my life. Appreciate any insight. From what I read earlier, I didn't think it would, but open to learning.
Thanks

Just pay the subscription....you're missing out!

There are a raft of Porsche Connect services which are bundled - enhanced mapping, real time traffic, weather, remote control of some car features (lights, horn, locking), charging planner, cabin preheat / precool, route planning, news feed, locate the car, POI, Google satellite mapping layer, Internet radio and so on.

A more integrated experience overall.

Is it worth the renewal cost (10 years (previously 3) from new now on all Porsches) ... maybe.

Some features are replaceable with Waze etc.

Personally, I’ve never needed to use third party apps when using my Taycan. - charging planner and route planner being key.

Ask your dealer for a full list of features if not detailed on website.
