Only had seen them sitting on dealerships before. It was a shade of blue, with silver Spyder wheels. It was probably a base since I didn’t see any red calipers or the more aggressive front end. It was… so uninspiring…. Here I was thinking when the moment came I would happily switch to a J1.2 4S. I’m second guessing this now. Every time I see a J1.1 on the road, I can’t take my eyes off of it. This was something else.

Agree J1.1 looks better. I have not seen a single J1.2 unless sitting on my dealer lot.

I’ve seen quite a few in London. I love the front end of gen1 but the gen2 black one looks quite good in person.

Also I’ve seen more taycans on my commute in Feb than all of 2025
On that note, I did an EV count on a recent local journey to test a suspicion I had......
Making a rough head count of anything with an EV (green) number plate.

And I reckon Taycans were actually the most common vehicle driving between Knutsford, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow.

I saw about 15 of them over an hour or two.

Obviously, plenty of business owners buying them around here due to tax breaks and also a dealership at Wilmslow.

The new front, especially in the non turbo models makes the car look a lot wider, or rather more true to its size.

The J1.1 is just a better design. J1.2 is more angular and has more creases for creases sake while the J1.1 looks one of a kind.

Ah well, can't have it all. The J1.2 Taycan 4 is a much better car than my Turbo S was, and with the way I specced it there is no difference in the cabin anyway.

Honestly, the turbo front design on j1.2 kills it. I was trying to talk myself into hating it when owned 1.1 but nah, it’s beautiful as well.

Out on the back country twisties yesterday; mine was the only J1.2 out and about. Killing it on the corners in the CT. Mostly ICE enjoying the drive, but then got stuck behind a Tesla. I miss the tear drop design of headlamps but the improved battery etc made the choice for me.

As a J1.1 owner, I'm curious about what's better other than the range? I've seen a number of people say the J1.2 is so much better, but on paper besides the range and HP increase, I'm not really clear on what else is improved. My understanding is the PCM is no different than J1.1 but I could be wrong.

Newer software, more responsive PCM and better battery management further enhanced by a new battery display with temp and available charging speed in the main instrument display. Profiles are no more.

In addition to what you've mentioned.

When I was researching reviewers said the PCM hardware is faster (it responds to input faster). While it's too early to tell, it seems like there are far fewer issues that will cause your car to go to the shop for an extended time on the J1.2.

What's more important in an EV than improved range, charging speed and power? Finally, you can only get PAR on a J1.2 and that alone is worth the change ;)

Good points. I've had my '23 GTS for a couple of months but already am contemplating my next one (that will be a J1.2). My wife hates the laggy PCM and touchscreen everything so I'm wondering how quickly I should level up knowing how similar they are.
