Found a good use for the center console phone charger 😜

I find the center console wireless phone charger useless. The phone has to be in exactly the right place, and even then it never reliably worked for me. Forget trying to use it with a phone case. Needless to say, I turned it off in the PCM. Today, I found a new use for the holder/clip in the center console and it’s amusing enough to share here. Enjoy!

Hey, I didn't know one can turn it off or on in the PCM. Could be a good candidate for connecting something else and controlling it via PCM.

PS> I've been keeping glasses wipes in that pocket as I also found the charger to be mostly useless. I charge phones via 12V adapter with USB-C outputs, or via a wireless magsafe charger attached to the center console.

Hehe funny, it’s a beautiful car for sure but what are you doing in your car that you need wipes for


I have the emergency hammer stuffed in that slot so it doesn’t move around and I know where to find it.

Small people make messes. I keep a folded up microfiber towel in each rear door pocket and in the center console in anticipation...

I turned mine off too. I use it to clip my registration, insurance card, and a bunch of charging cards (Chargepoint, EVgo). I often find using the card quicker than phone. Though in California, it's now irrelevant to even have an app as CPOs are mandated to accept direct payments

Samsung S23 charges perfectly for me on a run, perfect when you have Waze running on your phone

I'm thinking using the PCM charger controls as an inconspicuous kill switch for radar/laser countermeasures and dashcam, when dropping off for service, or pulled over.

I put a stack of $1 bills in there for when I need to tip someone or give to the homeless guy at the intersection.
