I originally purchased a Turbo S back in the summer of 2024, just when the Taycan GT Weissach was being released. At the time I didn’t want to wait for the GT, especially when after months of searching I came across the perfect Turbo S for me. It had everything enthusiast option box checked. Over the past two years I’ve really enjoyed that car. It’s been the perfect daily/weekend car (800hp with asg flash) and the best car I’ve ever owned.
Then I started to participate in more spirited back-road drives with my friends and thought while the Turbo S is perfect for the street, what would the GT Weissach offer me. Sure, I would be losing a lot of creature comforts on this ‘upgrade’ (Pano roof, rear seats, surround camera, leather stitched panels, blind spot, ambient lightening, etc). It took me 9 months of researching back and forth, while keeping an eye on the GT Weissach market, before I came to a decision. Plus, a little help from Mr. Smith explaining the philosophy of this car so well, helped me decide it was something special.
Fast forward to April of this year and I got the honor of meeting Mr. Smith when I was out in California on vacation. He was most gracious in letting me drive his car. It was an amazing experience since he is one of maybe 2 people with a tuned GT Weissach in the entire country. Porsche should really have him as a consultant as he is the most enthusiast Taycan owner I have come across. Once I located the car he even went out of his way and drove over 4 hours to check out the car for me!. Even on delivery day we had an amazing talk about the car so that I could get acclimated to it. We really need more genuine EV enthusiasts like him.
To be honest nobody really needs a car with close to 1200hp (tuned), but it’s nice to have. What was really impressive on the J1.2 is the new active ride system. The ride was very compliant for a GT car and it doesn’t beat you up (something that I was expecting). I will surely miss all the options of my Turbo S, but am looking forward to enhancing the GT Weissach.
I’ll post more pics/updates as I start the process of getting more acclimated to the car!.
