Thanks for posting the link, just finished the story. They did set themselves up for failure in terms of their preparation and their choice of charging app.
A few thoughts--If they had used ABRP, they would likely have used EA fast charging stations almost the whole way making 10 stops...
The miles to "empty" figure updates based on driving style/conditions (so it does go up and down) and as others have noticed the use of the HVAC and seat heating has a big impact on range. It is a little disconcerting to middle aged (and not tech savvy) guys like me to see my range estimate...
I went with the Cross Climate 2's and they have been outstanding in terms of wet and dry grip. The reduction in tire noise is nothing short of amazing--I had the OE fit Michelins on the car and they were always noisy.
Porsche Grapevine has a GT3 Touring with PDK for $379,900 in their showroom. I'm in favor of free markets but it is a signal to the customer about the priorities of the dealership. There are some dealer groups, like Sewell here in TX, that are not marking up beyond MSRP because they think it...
I went on to Pelican Parts to look for Clear Markers for my Taycan and saw that they have an entire section for Taycan Exhaust parts. This confused me as I am pretty sure that EVs don't really have Exhausts, much less Oxygen Sensors. Even weirder is that the entry for this particular part...
My business partner makes fun of how slowly I back into my parking space in the garage at our office--it is primarily because I fear the sneaky columns! Part of it is also that I am a boater and that's how I pull my boat into and out of the slip, carefully!
I went to the dealership to buy a Panamera 4S eHybrid and wound up with a Taycan 4S. I do agree that the interior of the Panamera is more luxurious than the Taycan but after driving the two the choice was pretty clear for me. The Taycan felt like the future we were promised as kids.
Those look great! They remind me of the classic Fuchs wheels and you get the benefit of having the lightest wheel and tire package along with nice meaty sidewalls to deal with my home state's potholes!
I'm going to reserve final judgement until I see it in person but I don't mind how it looks outside and think the interior looks great. We also need to keep in mind that while most of us (myself included) really hated the "Bangle Butt" BMWs initially they sold very well and some, like the E60...
I went to the dealership to drive a Panamera eHybrid and drove the Taycan on a whim. After driving the Taycan the Panamera felt old and a bit obsolete. The die was cast at that point. The only area where I preferred the Panamera was on the look and general finish of the interior which seemed...
I totally missed that you had massage—guess I was thinking about the one feature I really wish I had on my car. I also need to use my reading glasses—doh!
I have a VanTrue T3 that is plugged into the 12V in the center console. It works really well but it is front only. I'd like to get a hardwired install (front and rear cameras) done but not sure who to use in DFW.
I'd probably skip the power port covers and the under door light projectors and go for the seat massage function instead. Other than that it looks great! Gentian Blue is my favorite Taycan color.
I’d describe it as a product that Is not yet fully baked. Some of this is early adopter typical pain, some is a lack of attention paid to details complicated by the company deciding to re-engineer so many of the systems of the car apart from the powertrain
