My Taycan is presently at the dealership for a failed 22kw on board charger. I was told by my service advisor that the 22kw charger will be again available in late November. Is anyone aware of this and has more information?

It would be nice to get some independent confirmation.

I have a service apointment next week. Since I was the 1st one being downgraded to the 11KW charger in August and the compensation still unresolved I am quite curious to see where this is going. I do not have any indication about this, the messaging prior/during/after the swap was that currently there is no Information whatsoever about a replacement being available in the near future. However I really hope for it, I used it quite a lot and I dearly miss it.

I’ve recently had my faulty 22kW OBC replaced with the 11kW. I was reimbursed the full cost of the option at £1,179. I spoke with Porsche GB customer services earlier this week and they confirmed that they are currently in the testing phase of 22kW OBCs which they hope will be ready towards the end of this year, as a direct replacement for those that have failed.

The official TSB says that it is no longer produced, won’t be produced anymore, and to install the 11kw one. Before all of this the TSB has a letter template to print and hand to the car owner informing them about the downgrade and possible compensation/reinbursment.

So seeing as there is official porsche documentation on the matter saying no more 22kw, I would suspect your dealer is just uninformed and wanted to get rid of you fast

It wasn’t a dealer that told me this, it was Porsche GB. They told me I could opt to have the 22kW replaced like for like, when they’re available later this year, but would have to reimburse the £1,179 I’ve already been compensated for the downgrade to 11kW. No reason for them to get rid of me fast 🙂

I'd be happy if they just quit neutering teh 11 kW OBC's to 9.6 kW in North America - they need redesign too apparently...

this is simliar to how Porsche handled the PMCC powersupply cable problems - no clear messaging, some missteps, and then finally an admission of guilt and an actual solution - until then there was no problem - the customer was at fault for wanting it to work…Porsche knew better.

I was provided with an actual date of availability of the 22kw charger and suggested to just keep the loaner until then. Hopefully there will not be any delays.
Did you get it in writing that you get to keep the loaner for however long it takes to get a 22kW charger? Should Porsche change their mind on the 22kW OBC, lifetime of free Porsche loaners? :)

My service advisor contacted me again yesterday to inform me that they will go ahead and replace the 22kw charger with the standard charger as it is not certain that the new 22kw charger will be avaiilable by the end of November.
Positive is that I am glad that I do not have to wait another two months to get my car back. On the other hand, I had purchased and installed the Porsche Wall Charger to be abke to charge at faster speed at home.

The press were also told that 22kW would be available "later" when Porsche were revealing the new Cayenne EV. So for sure, they haven't given up on the idea.

Following.

@chun why can't both things be true? ... that the TSB and associated comms state that (at that moment in time) the 19.6/22kW charger is NLA, and then a subsequent change in circumstances allows it to be offered again?

If there is to be a Cayenne 19.2/22kW OBC, why not have that part be designed to be retrofittable to the Taycan?

This could just be a combination of evolving positions and sloppy communication.
