Hi everyone.
I want able to get Porsche connect in my 2020 turbo since it wasn’t available when I bought it. After 4 years with out it I know feel
It would be a nice addition to be able to check Batery stats remotely etc. Any one knows if LTE connection can be added as an aftermarket option? My dealer hasn’t been much help in the matter.

Can you currently stream Apple Music via the PCM? If yes then your LTE service is operating.

Porschr Connect services are a layer on top and require LTE to be in place. In some countries the services may be restricted for what ever reason.

Check the owners manual for your region to determine what you should have.

Recoding the car to think it's in Russia may enable the ability to connect it to WiFi internet (the only market where Porsche allowed the car to use WiFi for internet). Then all you'd need is a LTE WiFi hotspot.

Only trouble then is the car would smash itself up against your neighbours car, drive erratically for no reason and be isolated from everything else (apart from China if you loaned it to China for a cut rate).

Were 2020 Taycans for some countries manufactured without the ability to use Porsche Connect?
Online page for Porsche Connect in Mexico seems to show the service is available, or at least advertised.
https://www.porsche.com/mexico/connect/
Porsche Connect is region specific - even UAE suffered limited services - since 2020.

If a country, say Mexico, now has Porsche Connect, would there be some reason a specific older model year Taycan cannot now subscribe to it - in other words, some hardware or software limitation in that model year vehicle?

My guess is probably not and it should just work. The official dealership should be able to resolve on the basis there is a service to connect to, car is software up-to-date, and a valid Porsche Connect contract is in place.

The dealer hasn’t been able to help. Account to them it’s a hardware issue that can’t be retrofitted. But in all honesty my dealer is not very cooperative on this types of issues.

Have you contacted Porsche - the manufacturer - customer service and asked them whether your car is capable of accessing Porsche Connect?

Either your 2020 Taycan does not have the onboard hardware and software to use Porsche Connect, or it does.

If it does, then ask Porsche what you can do since dealer is not helping.

My guess is that this is a software limitation rather than a hardware one as it would require Porsche to have had a different PCM for different and limited markets.

What happens when you try and register online for My Porsche and Porsche Connect services?

Your car may be similarly configured to Russian market cars, which are allowed to use WiFi for internet. Have you checked to see if your car can connect to internet via WiFi? If yes, you could use an LTE hotspot to give the car connectivity.
