Hey, I’m curious to know if there’s a way to set and automate the temperature in the car so on hot summer the car will automatically cool down and stay at a preset temperature of your choice even when you’re not using it?

Precool feature works for 60 minutes. Activate from the App in time for departure.
There is no feature to keep the car at a preset temperature at all times.

I drove a Model S for 4 years before I upgraded to the Taycan. The Tesla was programmed to not let the interior temp get above 104 degrees F. Honestly, I think they might have added that feature after they had problems with certain materials (glue?) melting in their initial model years. I’m hoping the Taycan interior can withstand a few hours in the sun!

Thanks everybody that helps a ton! I actually had my dashboard peel up on the front passenger side corner last year. I’m not sure if it was because the cabin was getting too hot in the summer or not. Luckily Porsche replaced it for me. I just don’t want to have it happen again.

Ive always thought that Tesla’s have the shut lines and look like a fridge - so now I know they can behave like one !

Tesla did this to protect some of the non-automotive grade electronics. For example, the screen they used for Model S was industrial, not automotive-grade. They had no choice, as they couldn't find a screed this big rated for automotive spec, and they had negligible negotiating power with the low volumes of car they made back in 2012 (or earlier, when picking the components). Tesla successfully spun this feature as a safety one, in case you leave a child or a pet inside. They also added camping mode at one point, to keep HVAC going for hours. Eventually they added a specific "dog mode" which would keep it way cooler, while displaying on the screen the current temperature so people who see a pet in a car on a hot day won't freak out.

If you're willing to write your own software (or pay someone to do it), people have reverse-engineered the Porsche Mobile App API's, so technically you could write your own "app" to keep restarting the pre-conditioning for as long as you want.
