I have two super basic questions on FM radio vs Apple Music. Apologies if this has already been asked on the forum, but I couldn't find it. Typically a few seconds after I start car, wireless Carplay starts up and I get a map from Google on the middle screen and the car turns off FM radio (and whatever station was playing when the car was last used) and shifts to phone as audio source (see picture below). I don't use Apple music so it is just silent and then I have to go back to the middle screen and press buttons to go back to FM.

1. Is there a way to change default so that car starts and stays with FM radio favorites instead of going to Apple Carplay?
2. Is there a way to default to Apple Car play for just the center screen (Google maps) but keep the audio source as FM? I am able to do this once the car is running, but have to go through a few steps every time the car starts.

Any guidance appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same problem, it drives me insane.
My BMW X7 does not do it. The radio stays on when car play starts up, so it is possible.
For the time being i have set the short cut button on the steering wheel (button with diamond shape on it) to change the media source. So when i start the car and apple car play loads up and selects apple music, i push the diamond button on the steering wheel twice and the radio turns on.
Not a fix but its easier than trying to turn on the radio through the centre console.
Hopefully Porsche fixes this mistake in future updates (if they have not already).

I have a similar question.
I don't mind my car connecting to my 'phone for hands free calls but have little interest in it doing anything else.
I usually use DAB radio here in the UK almost never either streaming or playing from the iPod function of the phone.
I am not a Luddite, I wrote my first software earning me money in 1971, but don't like being connected to an unpoliced source of all sorts of crime (the internet) when I don't need to be :)

The PCM provides a couple of options including tracking of a given broadcast. If the signal becomes weak it will attempt to stream (can be disabled) or you can choose to listen streamed stations.

Based on the replies on some other threads, it looks like this is just a design defect. The best work around solution seems to be the one described by andrewr, which is to set the diamond button to the right of the dash to favorites. If you want to avoid pushing this button twice, you can rearrange your favorites to make the source you want (e.g. FM Radio) the first on the list. This topic has since come up in another thread that has more responses if anyone is curious:

That 'fix' works a treat. I would say, in Porsche's defence, that car play and its integration with other cars is far from glitch free in my experience. I think some of the issues/causes are on apple's side of the fence.
