Any suggestions on bent wheel appreciated? I was changing my tires today and Discount Tire discovered while balancing my front right wheel that it was slightly bent and required more weight to balance. I have wheel and tire insurance. Does the insurance cover repair or approve replacement? Anyone with any experience would be appreciated. Thank you

This is what that W&T insurance is for. You might the get the run around with repairs first but they should just replace the rim…otherwise there is no point in having the coverage.

Wheel and Tire insurance either repairs or or replaces the wheel. That simple. I would make a claim and get yourself a brand new wheel.

Cheers, appreciate it. So the apparent bend was not obvious to me when I was shown. I assume it’s fixable?

If the W+T insurance is through Porsche, they are going to give you a new wheel. They are not going to try to bend it back even if it is a slight bend. If it's enough that it was noticeable when on the wheel balancer, you need a new wheel.

As stated above, no insurance or warranty coverage is going to try to bend back a wheel. They'd replace it. You just might have to argue with them a bit to convince them it's bad enough to require replacing.

I’ve had a wheel that was hugely bent (massive pothole) but as it wasn’t cracked a wheel repair shop straightened it out perfectly for £60. Couldn’t believe it!

I took the car to the dealer to record the wheel on a balancer for the insurance claim. However, the insurance company later denied the claim, stating there was no mechanical issue, such as air loss. It appears that the wheel and tire insurance only covers tire damage or wheel rash, and wheel replacement is only covered if there's significant damage causing air loss. I am wondering whether to accept the situation and hope the wheel doesn't fail at a latter point, the insurance coverage expires in June 2025. Any further thoughts?

To OP:

I‘m like to know if your W+T insurance is through Porsche?

Yes through Porsche. It was not approved, Porsche dealership presented that it wasn’t losing air and was not causing vibration, so insurance denied the claim.
