I have noticed that after an update either to my phone or to my car, the Apple CarPlay, as well as Bluetooth has started disconnecting in a specific intersection every time 100% of the time. It did not used to disconnect at all for over a year but now every time I drive by this intersection, my phone connection drops. My research shows that this is due to some kind of radio frequency interference I used to have this problem on my old BMW and then after I upgrade to Porsche, this problem went away. I assume that this was due to the Bluetooth version but it seems like Porsche has upgraded to the same Bluetooth version and now I have the same problem again has anyone had this problem or found a solution to it?

There is some WiFi interferences causing that. This is not a Bluetooth issue.

Thank you. Is there any solution for this you’re aware of? It’s super annoying I can’t believe this isn’t fixed universally

I have a similar spot that drops my CarPlay every time - for mine, it looks to be caused by a local hospital with a helicopter - I'm assuming it's the frequency they use for the helicopter (since I don't have the issue passing by any other hospitals). Note that this isn't unique to the Taycan - the couple newer Macan rentals that I've had also experience the same drop-out, so I'm assuming it's a common frequency across newer PCMs (my Boxster didn't do that, but it was an older PCM).

I agree it's super annoying, especially on the occasional time that it doesn't reconnect after dropping. I have reported mine to the dealer, but they said they couldn't do anything about it (but they could never give me a satisfactory answer as to what was causing it, other than 'interference')

My taycan didn’t do this for the past year. It only stated doing it a few months ago, so I suspect it’s a software upgrade that’s using different WiFi specs and fallbacks.

Not necessarily. Someone in the area could have just misconfigured (or have a broken) WiFi router, or it's near some business or apartment building with lots of people using WiFi simultaneously to stream their favorite content. A less likely, but possible solution, is that someone has some microwave device with poor shielding, or an actual WiFi jammer.

It happens in a few very specific locations, multiple locations. Unlikely that someone installed 3 jammers in 3 different locations on my way to work. More likely to be a software update.

It could be a software update, but it also could be 3 locations dense with heavy WiFi usage (someone installed a bunch of wireless camera, perhaps even your government's DOT watching the traffic, or maybe license plate readers, who knows). You could take a WiFi spectrum analyzer to the locations to see what's happening there.

My wireless CarPlay drops when I drive next to a building that is the HQ for a rocket company, which happens to be next to a toll road so I know when it’s going to happen without failure. Meh, I got used to it by now.
