I recently purchased a GTS Sports Turismo. I will pick up the car in Kalispell Montana and will do a 2 or 3 day drive to San Francisco. The inspiration of this trip is akin to European delivery!

This will be my FIRST road trip in an EV, exciting considering the charging desert of Western Montana and Oregon highlands. My itinerary is generally flexible given certain timing elements of the truck arrival, my desire to spend half day at Glacier National Park, possible weather delays, and my overall energy for two 10 hr drive days. The trip's current plan:

PICTURES starts on PAGE 2!

Day 1
Kalispell MT - delivery day!
Glacier National Park
Kalispell MT - 165kw EVC
Smelterville ID EA (171 miles)
Spokane - overnight AC (75 miles)

Day 2
Hermiston OR EA (174 miles), food & nap stop (literally fold down rear seats and roll out the sleeping pad/bag)
Madras OR EA (177 miles)
Bend OR (43 miles), lunch and EA
Klamath Falls OR hotel overnight AC (137 miles)

Day 3
Crater National Park
Klamath Falls OR 50kw CHPT
Weed CA 3rd party 200 KW (71 miles), nap stop
Willows CA EA (145 miles)
SF CA (146 miles)

If you choose to do that recommended route, there is a top quality EA charging station (new or newish with 350 kw chargers) in Albertsons/Safeway parking lot in Madras (right off Rte 97 100 yards) with a Starbucks inside. Have had A+ charging experiences at that EA charger.

Yep, that's the Madras location I planned. I'm glad to have first hand feedback on charger, quality and availability. Rarely are there 80 check-ins with an average of 10 score on Plugshare!

How long do you expect to need to spend at the 50KW charger? In my experience, that barely qualifies as “DC Fast Charging”….

That 50kw at Klamath Falls is not a critical charging stop. It's a food stop whereby I'll use the 50kw to top off. So maybe just 30 mins?

I made the trip from Vancouver Canada through to Whitefish Montana down via Seattle in 2023,

I have to say the Idaho Montana stretch was scary barren of chargers …. Even when planning it with ABRP I could only make it with. a Tesla charge … in the end bc the cold meant low battery performance and cabin heat I had to make a detour and use Tesla chargers twice …….

Of course things may have improved …. But I would definitely take a Tesla tap, be prepared for hotel charger access issues, and plan for low temperature drain (or at least check the weather in Mt when you plan to leave).

if you have not discovered the ABRP app…… it can be a life saver.

Then….just have fun….there are some stunning scenery in the area.

Noted, temp range is 50s-20s. Most of driving will be done in 50s in Oregon, and the MT ID stretch will be during the day time. I also built large mileage buffers in until I reach CA

I'll give it a try. I still don't understand the overhead concept.
It's pretty simple, the app does two things:

1 - Tracks your charges and expenses
2 -Times and tracks road trips

To use it on a road trip:
- Click + and the blue "start trip" button
- On your trip use + to add stops (food, charge, etc). Each stop can capture a photograph and the "scan" button will read the screen on chargers.
- Blue "end trip" button when you arrive

Who did you buy the car from?
Porsche Littleton, but dealer consignment. It was significantly easier during the negotiation on a consignment sale
