Hi - sorry if this has been done before, but I’d love some advice from the experts out there!
I’m clueless and don’t know where to start ???

what charger should i buy for home charging? Don’t want to spend a fortune as already way over my budget…..

do they need installing by an electrician or are they simply plug in?

please help! ?

Don't buy any, use the one you get with the car as that's what it's for.

Ensure you have a dedicated 32A fused supply from your fuse box to the charge point and you'll get 7.4kW - perfect for home charging (off peak overnight).

Did you specify the 22kW AC charger option - if so you have further choices if funds permit?

Ensure you get a fully qualified electrician to do this work.

Do not use a 3 pin plug (this is a gesture of last resort).

I’ve had two EV’s and I installed a Juicebox 40 (the cost was about $1000 to install) about 5 years ago. It runs on 240v with a 50 amp breaker. I used the Juicebox to charge both EVs.

I get 9.6kw charging, which is fine since 99% of my charging is at home overnight. I drive around 10,000 miles per year so typically I charge once a week.

The Juicebox is WiFi connected and can be programmed to start charging at a certain time of day (like midnight).

If in Scotland, 2 grants were available to install a homebox if you decide to. Might be worth looking into

Only a numpty would ask ?

General UK colloquialism for an "idiot" or someone whose elevator doesn't stop at the top floor.

No offence intended ?
None taken. I love English (or is it Scottish) colloquialisms! Now I know what not to say after a few pints too many at a pub in Glasgow. Maybe I'll go for a personalized Numpty license plate!
