Hi All,

There are now three electric vehicles in our household but only one 7.5kW wall charger.
I have a cheap tariff overnight but it doesn't last that long. Annoyingly all three cars are empty.

It occurs to me that if I purchase

I can charge one of the cars at 230x16 = 3.6kW instead of 2.0kW via a three pin plug.
My OPC supplied a 32A version of the above which is larger so won't fit my 16A outside socket.

So my questions to the group are:-
How does the Porsche charger know what it is attached to?
I have 16A to 32A converter which I could use but if that causes the charger to request 32A through 16A house cabling then bad things will happen.
Does anyone know where I can buy a CEE 1P 16A adapter?
Does anyone have one they want to sell?

First off, let me say I am ignorant to the electrical setups/laws in the UK so my advice is probably suspect.

It sounds like you really need nightly charging for all vehicles.

I would consider having an electrician install 2 or even 3 Wallbox Pulsar Plus units on the same circuit, ideally a 60 amp or better.

These units can work on the same circuit and will reduce/increase power accordingly so everyone gets the best they can until full.

Depends when you got your Taycan but the supply end of the EVSE will either be 32A or 16A - which do you have, I assume 32A to get 7.4kW?

The EVSE to car cable will also be 16A (230v) or 32A (400v) rated.

Depending on what you have end to end will be limited by the lowest cable rating.

On Porsche Mobile Charger Connect EVSE the power can also be throttled by adjusting the ampage.

On the Porsche Mobile Charger Plus you can press the 100% to 50% button to reduce the power / ampage.

Hi Tom,

You could simply buy a 16a Porsche cable to plug into your EVSE charger, no problems to worry about,

i just bought a 32a Blue single phase one to interchange with the 32a 3 phase one I spec’d with my car.

You simply need a 16a one…… just cost me £106 all in from dealers 👍🏻

argh - I didn't realise it was that simple. I have been lost in a maze of German and Lativian VAG spares sites.
I will call them tomorrow.

I am building a nice collection of these adapters. It's like an adult game of collectables.

Adding a 16A socket will reduce the power from 7.4kW to around 3.6kW - it must be 32A end to end.

If you have every option covered, you will have no problems, so by the looks of it a 16a variant is needed for a full house 😜.

Just a thought, as you already have a 32a supply, could you not simply add another 32a Supply? one for the Porsche plus 1 for AN other car both @7.4Kw

Assuming you have single phase you can only use two 7kW chargers, not 3 (as suggested earlier in this thread) as your house fuse will only take 100 Amps. And no electrician will fit 3 chargers for simultaneous use that combined take you up to 96A

If you have 2 x 32A fused spurs then if both EVSEs are active at the same time then the single phase will be split thereby ging ~ 3.6kW a piece.
