Hi everyone,

I hope to be part of the Taycan family soon. I've been looking at different models for the past few weeks and am currently torn between two choices. I'm interested to know which choice you guys would make, and why.

Both cars are iceblue metallic, which looks sick IMO. They both have the performance plus battery, chrono sport package, BOSE sound system, interior light design and panoramic roof. Car #1 however, has a lot more options on top of that. ACC with Innodrive, lane assist, comfort acces, park assistent with the surround view, heated seats in the front and back, ventilated seats in the front and a heated steering wheel. Car #2 has none of that, BUT it has a the exterior sport design package and the ice blue Porsche logo on the rear (this looks amazing in combination with the paint job), and the passenger display on the interior.

On paper, car #1 is the better equipped car. It's even 5K cheaper compared to car #2. The BIG but, is the mileage. Car #1 has driven 56.000 miles, whereas car #2 'only' has 25.500 miles. The battery of both cars are still under warrenty. Car #1 has three years or warrenty left, and car #2 a little over four years. Both cars look splendid on the outside, but you can clearly see some wear and tear on the inside of car #1. It's clear this has been used a lot more.

I plan to use this as my daily driver for the next 3-4 years. I drive between 6.000-9.000 miles on a yearly basis.

So, would you rather go for a better spec'd out car with more mileage, or go for a simpler version with less miles?

Based on your average mileage per year, there shouldn’t be any issue going with the higher mileage, better-specced option.

Although on the forum, 2020 models are generally discouraged, you may need to look into that.

Still, even at 9,000 miles per year for the next three years, you’ll be well within the battery’s warranty mileage of 100,000 miles, considering car #1 currently has 56,000 miles.

However, a word of caution: Porsches, and especially Taycans, are notoriously expensive to repair. The Taycan has limited to no support from independent repair shops, meaning most repairs would likely need to be done at Porsche, which can be costly.

Since car #1 is also likely out of its 2-year unlimited mileage warranty (as we have in the Netherlands/EU), aside from the frame and battery, most components would technically be out of warranty. However, if the car comes with an extended warranty, which I presume, you are covered for the next two years.

We have a 2020 4S with about 20k miles that has been perfect for the year we've owned it (other than many recalls).

I am original owner of a well-optioned MY20 4S with 19,000 miles.

Other than some initial PCM issues during the first 6 months the car has been amazing in every way with no significant issues. I like the car so much, I released it from Porsche for an additional 4 years and paid for a 4 Year extended CPO warranty.

#1. The milage is nothing for a drivers car. Are both cars from a Dutch Porsche Center? If so, nothing to worry about IMO, you live in a country were customer service matters, so if you buy a bad car, they will do everything to make you happy. My advice is to ask the dealer for a free upgrade of the warranty. (ask for the 3 years one).

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Seems car #1 gets the most votes!

Yes, they are both from a Porsche Center. Thanks for the suggestions of the warrenty upgrade. Will try and see if they bite.

I have a 2020 4S, leased for 3 years, then bought at the end of lease. It is one of the first of the 4S's to be released from the factory, delivered in Sept 2020. I have not had any issues with the vehicle, save those of my own making. I bought an 84 month Porsche warranty with the purchase to cover any major electro-mechanical problems. I could not be more pleased with the car and enjoy it as a daily driver year round....rain/snow/hot/cold. The only significant wear items are tires, which do need replacement more often than with ICE vehicles.

Do you mind sharing how much an extended 4 year CPO warranty costs? Thanks!

Approximately $5k for and 84 month warranty from the date of manufacture.
