I have not noticed the two horizontal lines with a slash through it, and only error message from in-car is "No data connection can be established right now". Car drives fine and carplay works like I would expect.
The error message about no data connection can be established - at what point is that error message displayed/what do you have to do to generate that message?

Huh? 2025 Taycans have the option to connect to a WiFi access point for internet access?!? For pre-2024 Tyacans this was an option exclusively available in Russia. Everywhere else Porsche blocked it (presumably in order to drive their own LTE subscription revenue).
What is the meaning of the message in this photo by @trycan from 2025 Taycan :
No data connection possible. Establish data connection with a WIFI network.

New functionality here for 2025 models, or just misleading error message?

Yep. It's not clear exactly what they can use the external WiFi for, but at least they can connect:

The option disappeared after I logged out, so maybe it's not supported on the Guest account.

I'm hoping that it will allow basic communication with the app if I let the Porsche Connect subscription lapse (but I'm not holding my breath).

When I launch the video app, it asks if I want to use the car's cellular connection, or connect to a wifi network. I wasn't near any wifi, so I chose cellular. It was a little slow launching the app and waiting for the preview tiles to come up, but once I started a video the connection held up great.
(This was all before my cellular connection cut out last week)

If you do pair with a phone hotspot, then wireless carplay will disconnect because that uses WiFi and it can't be shared between two connections.

I wonder what this connection between the vehicle and a WiFi network will do?
Based on @trycan post with images, implies that such a connection would enable online networked media.

You may want to look at troubleshooting options list to see if any of the steps might restore your data connection. My belief is that something on Porsche back-end is often the cause. If so, little you or a dealer can do about it.

I did do the PCM reboot, but no change.

I'll probably just wait it out since CarPlay is working just fine, and that's what I use most of the time.

Would be good to know if OP replies with an update or any other '25s are reporting similar trouble. Would pretty much indicate the problem is on the Porsche server-side.

Ah, I think I get their reasoning. Now that they offer video, even while driving, saving money on cellular data is more important than forcing customers to subscribe to Porsche connect by not allowing them to connect the car any other way. They probably moved the restriction to the app or server side now (apps won't connect if no subscription valid instead of internet won't connect if no valid subscription), which may be what is malfunctioning today for the new Taycans, as it's new software function, so probably not tested much. Just a theory though, I don't have a 2025 Taycan.

It could be that the highly anticipated future OTAs will have WiFi as a possible delivery path. My garage has a weak signal from my WiFi, but it should be possible to connect.

My PCM has an "Updates" section (clicking it says something about being up-to-date).
Does the Gen 1 have the updates section in the PCM?

Yes. It only ever had PCM app updates (weather, news, calendar, etc). The only other thing my Taycan ever updated OTA was map tiles as I drive, with an annoying popup every time it loaded the next set of tiles.

I don't understand.
WiFi is not a useful data connection to Porsche servers for a vehicle on the road, is it?
Do you believe that WiFi is able to replace cellular data connection for all networked functions in the 2025 car, or just some functions?
The problems reported here for 25s seem to be with cellular data connection, not WiFi.
If "4G" display symbol does not mean successfully connected to Porsche servers, what does it mean?
One owner said == with slash through it symbol is still displayed temporarily at startup. But it is not displayed when "no data connection possible" message occurs. Doesn't seem to make sense.

I've an MY24 with the dreaded == and line through it symbol. the car has been with the dealer for the past 2 days with them trying a variety of soft and hard resets with no avail. They now seem to think it's an OTA module failure which they will look to replace tomorrow. . another fragile component in an ever so fragile car

I don't know but it could be. Tesla allows your car to be connected to WiFi while driving. Some connect it to their phone hotspot, others to mobile hot spots they carry.
Do you believe that WiFi is able to replace cellular data connection for all networked functions in the 2025 car, or just some functions?
Why would they limit it to only some functions? I can see the opposite, some functions only work via WiFi (again, like Tesla, offline map updates or some large data collection campaign uploading videos etc).
The problems reported here for 25s seem to be with cellular data connection, not WiFi.

My theory is that in the past Porsche services just worked if they found a way to connect to the server (i.e. internet available), since internet access was a subscription paid by Porsche. However, once customers can provide their own internet access, Porsche needed additional controls to prevent people from using connect services by just connecting via WiFi and not paying Porsche connect subscription. That could be what is failing, preventing people from connecting even when internet is available.

I tried the 12v battery disconnect solution and it still didn’t fix my issue. I guess I’ll just wait for Porsche to get back to me.
