In Washington State, a vehicle out of service for a cumulative of 30 days triggers the state’s Lemon Law. Virginia probably has a similar law, so everyone knows an October fix clearly isn’t acceptable. Hope Porsche gets you back on the road quickly.
Thanks, me too!!

Sorry, I disagree. The bs is Parts has not been upfront with me, did not immediately get the GM involved, and the October steering wheel delivery is totally unacceptable. The car has been on the ground in the US since June 29, and there is currently no viable plan to get the correct part here to fix the problem anytime soon. If you think all of that is OK, and would be fine just siting here waiting on something to happen from perpetually slow moving Porsche to fix the problem, then God bless you.
Of course I don’t think having a car out of commission for so long is ok. You should see what the GM comes back with and decide whether to invoke the lemon law. But I don’t think they will have a lot of cars sitting around that are close to your spec, so you are setting yourself up for disappointment if You expect a replacement in a week. You may get lucky with that Strategy, but given the supply, unlikely.

Don’t know why I am wasting time with this.

1. Verified with GM that Parts knew almost immediately about parts delivery time and withheld that information from me. If they had said anything about the October delivery time, I could have cut 2 days off of action from my end.

2. GM is very involved, and I had a 45 minute conversation with him on Friday. I let him read an email I had drafted to send to a Porsche vp in Atlanta. After the GM read it, he said send it immediately. Take that as enough said.

3. If I’m not lucky, plan b. Plan b is for my dealer to get a car from another dealer so that I get a decent discount.

Have a nice evening.

And an update, I’m meeting with the GM again, tomorrow at noon. From my end, to talk about plan b.

Hope it goes well.
I seem to recall from the production documentary that your car’s customized setting are loaded into the steering wheel. I wonder if that is one of the reasons they can’t just swap it. It is really disappointing that they couldn’t simply fix it. I agree -October is completely unacceptable. Yes, the car is in high demand, but surely they can do something sooner for a car that was delivered.

I sure hope so! The only problem is the improperly manufactured module for autonomous driving functions. I could easily fix it, but of course they wouldn’t let me do that. Meanwhile, I have found the perfect replacement out in California. I’d be willing to fly out there at my expense to pick it up, and drive it back. The car is so well optioned I imagine the CA dealer would want to unload it. I’d want a a little more off the MSRP for my trouble but it would solve the problem and in the end everyone would be happy.... I live on the east coast btw. Only issue is depending on EA’s charging network to get it back!

In the meantime I own zero cars, I've been driving a loaner Panamera for at least a month and a half. So I’m not paying taxes, insurance, etc., only gasoline which at today’s prices is not much.
Sorry about your problems. Are you sure you are covered for the loaner in case of an accident? My understanding is that the loaner is covered by your own car insurance while in your possession. No insurance = no coverage.

We still have my wife’s car and are covered under that plus our umbrella policy.

my car was delivered with heavy scratches on the pano-glass-roof induced presumably by transportation provider - 3 other Taycan's on the same truck had similar damage

Porsche dealer is working the problem and I have full confidence Porsche will eventually fix the problem -but I am a bit bummed that my brand new Taycan will have to be torn apart to install a new roof which is a major structural element in the vehicle…{sigh}

This is my roof. Arrived 6/20/20 from Houston to Tulsa. Shattered roof from hauler.

that sucks - seems like Porsche needs to work with their Hauler on this - and that the pano roof parts supply chain will need beefing up…
