This is fun. So Oslo has 50,000 EVs and a population of 1 million so that’s 5%. Marin county in Northern California has 143 EVs per 1000 people so that’s 14.3%.
Ha ha. Per capita is certainly one way to cut it.

But... the 14.3% is just for Zip code 94957 (Ross), right? A zip code with 1332 residents, not the whole of Marin county, with 260k residents. The whole of Marin County is around 7% (c. 18k EVs for 260k residents).

Oh, also, the Oslo 50k EVs is old. Turns out the 2022 number is 97k, so 9.7% (vs Marin County 7% and Ross 14.3%).

And you may also want to look at EVs as a percentage of all cars (penetration), and EVs per sq mile (density).

So... Zip code 94957 (Ross) vs Oslo <drum roll, please>

Number of EVs: Ross 190 vs Oslo 97,000.
Per capita: Ross 14.3% vs Oslo 9.7%. (Those 190 Ross EVs doing a lot of heavy lifting there :)
Penetration: Ross... no idea! vs Oslo 32%. VOID
Density: Ross 173/sq mile, vs Oslo 554/sq mile.

I make that Oslo 2, Ross 1. (But Ross could pull it back if you could please ask your 1331 neighbours how many ICE cars they have.)

As for Marin County as a whole? Not even close on number, per capita, penetration or density.

(BTW: I'm just having fun here, not taking it seriously... half these numbers could be wrong, and the other half out of date! ;-)

Next round: let's ask ChatGPT.

My house is 33% EV per capita (50% if I limit to legal age drivers), half (50%) of all vehicles are EV, and we have over 2500 EV per square mile. 😃
