My Taycan has been in with the Exeter Porsche dealership twice in the last few months and on both occasions, they have been working on electrics and blown the headlights. I had to pay £1500 for a new unit the first time and now they are saying the same but I can't see why I should pay this when it was their fault....twice! Has anyone else encountered anything like this please?

Huh?

Warranty?

In what way have they 'blown ' your headlights?

What electrical work was performed?

The first time, they were replacing the heater and had the front end of the car off. the second time, was for new suspension. The warranty ran out a couple of months ago as I am planning on selling the car!

Full details please. How can 'they' blow the headlights?
Not sure how they did it but are saying that the headlight bulb had blown and therefore it needs a whole new headlight unit. The fault codes weren't there when the car went it! They told me that the first time was coincidence, hence I paid for it but a second time in a matter of months, doesn't sound right to me.

You'd had no issue with the lights before this?

Why did you pay the £1500 the first time round?

Assuming no other details missing, I'd have refused and been very clear there was no issue before the car went in and so it was on them.

That it's happened twice suggests no coincidence.

I wouldn't run a car like this without warranty.

Definitely should have extended the warranty. It’s transferable to the new owner and would make for an easier sale.

They broke it, they have to replace it.
It's as simple as that.
If the headlight was "blown" before there would've been a warning light on the dash (and DTC code(s)).
You got to be kidding me?!
Headlights don't "blow" just like that.
Don't pay for their incompetence and shady customer service although you don't have warranty.
This has nothing to do with warranty.
I would've set the whole place on fire, I can tell you that. 😯

What headlights do you have standard led or matrix?

There is no bulb as such.

Very odd for this to fail. Control unit yes but the actual light arrays not and should have a minimum service life of many years.

Write to Porsche HQ.

It is a known problem when it comes to the dipped bulbs: first one side breaks, and a few days later the other side.

This doesn’t make sense, I wouldn’t pay for something the dealership caused.
