HELP- Sun visor broke with no pressure

I'm hoping someone has some advice here. I bought my `21 CT used at 8,000 miles. I've put on another 8k since January. Absolutely LOVE the car. I've traveled, maybe, 1,000 miles with someone in the passenger seat. My girlfriend was in the car and went to detach the sun visor to move it to the side and it broke off entirely!

I watched her do it. She did it slowly, with no leverage, didn't torque it. Plus, she's got chicken arms.

The car is still under warranty until Sep 30. I went to Porsche West and they said it doesn't fall under the warranty, but I should call Porsche America and they might approve it. So I did and Porsche America said that they don't approve it that Porsche West does and they said no.

This is no small amount of money to get this fixed (just the visor alone off ebay is $800).

How do I fight this?

Do you remember the visor orientation when she pulled on it? Vertical or horizontal? I find that when it's horizontal, it pulls out much easier, but harder to grip with your fingers.

It may have been broken by the previous owner and they "fixed" it with some glue.
Or if nothing is really broken, maybe some bolt came lose?

Ok, so I decided to pull out the warranty since I wrote this and read it. Turns out that there is a law called Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and from what I can tell Porsche has a whole escalation process. Basically it involves me contacting the dealership and then Porsche American, then an arbitration third party then small claims.

MRJones02 - it absolutely was not broken previously and fixed with glue. The plastic rod snapped in half. Clean break. Possibly some air bubbles in the plastic, but I'm not expert. Even the guys at the dealership were like, "oh wow" and agreed that it wasn't wear and tear.

It's so obviously defective, but since they regard sun visors automatically as wear and tear, I gotta fight this one. Thank you.

Not worth the energy - assuming you mean the retainer clip broke off - if you mean that the whole visor broke - then man ... what can i say except stay on the good side or keep your left hand high .........

My third retainer clip replacement (aggressive or hasty sun shade placement ?) …. could never be bothered with trying warranty ….anyway found the part number here and ordered 3……. total cost less than one with shipping from Sun coast …..

Nope the plastic bar broke in half at the pivot point. Originally, I found a replacement for $850 on the internet, but thanks to Mr.Jones, I see one for $300. That plus labor at $400/hr at the dealership, it's still worth a few emails, (which are already sent.)

If I’m not mistaken, at least in years past, Canadian purchased visors came without the airbag sticker.

My clip broke as well and it was an easy fix, i got the the "Audi part" from an audi dealer because it's walking distance to were i live and it was like half the price of the Porsche SKU.
It is a known issue on many Audis for some reason, but in the Taycan it's pretty rare i assume.

Thank you. It's not the clip (that is still intact) But it is interesting to see how many people have that break. There was an interesting bulletin that they put out that was mentioned on the post. The other thing that's interesting is I did search for sunvisor on this forum before I posted here. (I suspect the space mattered!)
