High Voltage Battery replaced

2020 Taycan Turbo with 17k miles
About 2 months ago I began having declines in my range, cumulating in a steep drop in total range of 140 miles and ultimately a red electrical systems failure.

Car was inoperable and towed to P north Houston, ( they provided a new Taycan as loaner). After almost 2 months the battery was replaced and I am happy to report that all is well, in fact better. It’s only been about a week but I’m seeing a dramatic increase in range- total range 290 to 295 miles!

The only explanation is the technology on this replaced battery pack is materially improved. Software is the same…. ( which I did an hard upgrade prior) Anyway, I wanted to share what I consider good news regarding Porsche standing behind and potentially improving the product - as well Porsche North Houston for great service.

I am now worried for my 2020 Turbo and its battery. I have seen a steep decline the last few days of both SOC , when parked in an underground garage. As well ans my range! And I am on my way back home on a 2800 km drive!

I have seen that one cell has its problems,so hopefully it will not extricate further over the nec]xt week.

Hey John - curious as to who your SA is that handled this swap for you - can PM if you'd rather keep private but entirely understand if you'd rather not - no worries.

I can share who I use right now but was curious, as with my ongoing extremely steep Soh drop (albeit via the less accurate OBDII interface), might be good to know who there has dealt with major battery concerns! I'm not quite there yet but the trend is a wee bit worrying.

No problem, SA is Chris Brown. Great guy. The service at P N Houston is top notch in general - always had a very good experience with multiple SA and multiple vehicles.

Thx! Agreed - so far top notch for me also and agree again re loaner availability - biggest dealer in TX (and in top 4 I think re volume nationwide) which helps.

glad you got yours sorted. I have mine in the shop right now. Had a couple yellow battery faults and lately the car has been getting 1 mile per 1% battery. My range never updates so I am not sure if Porsche is actually going to do more then just look at the range when they drive. Guess we will see

My 4s is the garage waiting for a new battery, it was getting 230 miles max when it was new, I’m now getting 245 in a Taycan loaner, wondered what were you getting prior to the reductions happening?

You have me wondering now, the most I have ever seen at 100% is 250 miles. Then again as we know the range meter will only reflect the last driving style. I regularly do long motorway runs at 75mph and get about 3mi/kWh, thus 84kWh of usable battery yields 252 mile range - spot on. If you are doing lower speeds and town driving you will likely see better. 3.5m/kWh would yield the range you are showing here. I am therefore no longer worried. ?

We will see. It’s been a little less than a week, but my observable range is pretty close to the estimate. In any case, there is no doubt that the new battery has considerably more range.

Do you know what they replaced ? Only one module or the entire pack ? (I have the impression that Porsche replaces the entire pack on the 2020-2021 taycan's because they still have the 'old' chemistry batteries.)
When they announced the car, they said that one of the advantages was that the battery was made of separate modules: making it easy to replace and fix per module.

Do you know what it would have costed out-of-warranty ?
