Would there be any possibility for thr InnoDrive or ALK to be back as a feature on demand? Or is the J1.II is missing a hardwear to have InnoDrive+ALK?

I'm negatiating a J1.2 4S with all the options I want including ACC except Innodrive (I want ALK) and the dealer said it's not possible. I'm not sure I'll got ahead and buy the car.

Same exactly, but I might go ahead with the purchase, but I hope I won't regret not having the technology. As it is suppose to be a just software feature, I was wondering if it can be added in the future!

My j1.2 came with ACC and Innodrive.
Never use the Innodrive (features seem largely pointless / hinderance) but love ACC on the motorway.

Active Lane Keep "ALK" is utterly terrible and often dangerous.
It's always on by default with every drive [for all new cars], so it's the first thing I disable before setting off.

I'd suggest the car you're looking at would be ideal.

ACC for me is a non negotiable feature, I currently have ALK on my non Porsche and enjoy it (as a security feature) especially on nationals/A roads but is it a deal breaker? I'm not sure (either way).
Knowing I could add it as FoD/retrofit like on Gen1 would be great (the hardware is there after all).
I don't care about the other Innodrive features like auto speed limit adaptation.

Same exactly, I believe with InnoDrive, I would turn it off majority of the time, I never had ALK, that is why I'll probably go ahead, but was a luxury I'd wish to enjoy when needed.
I'd like to believe they would make it feature on demand in future updates (although knowing Porsche, they probably won't)

Just checking I'm thinking ALK is the same as you.
In my mind, ALK is the tech that turns my wheel if I cut a central white line on a deserted sweeping A-road and would rather I crash into a wall.

There are 2 versions:
- LKA (Lane keep assist) which use the break on one side to put you back in the lane if you cross the line. That's purely a security feature, it bounce you from one side to the other, it can't be used for assisted driving
-ALK (Active lane keeping/Active lane assist) which keeps you centered in the lane, which can be used as "self-driving" assistance.

It's the second one that is part of the Innodrive bundle. From experience, it's nice to have (when it works - outside of motorways you need to keep checking when it switches on/off)

LKA or ALK - the former is always on by default on all new cars of all brands? ALK comes with ACC if optioned to provide semi autonomous steering.

Both are terrible IMHO.

My new 911 has ACC but no ALK (Innodrive isnt an option)and so far LKA feels less intrusive than the Taycan.

Porsche assistive drive features are far behind other automakers. ALK works like the feature in my 2019 mercedes or my 2017 tesla . It’s unreliable and doesn’t inspire confidence . If you never had it before you might think it’s cool but compared to BMW or mercedes now it’s years behind .

Had it on 2015 CLS and was good on motorway (or equivalent dual carriage way), on current KIA EV6 it's very similar, a bit more reliable on non-motorway but keeps switching on/off (less than the Merc was).
I will miss it on motorway but won't lose any sleep from it!

J1.2 4S purchase order signed, delivery in 3 weeks :handsinair:
