I am looking to spec a new Taycan with Active ride. We all hear about problems but what about the cars that have been faultless. Has anyone covered a significant mileage without any faults ?.

Probably should go ask a Panamera forum... it's only been out for about 18 months on the Taycan. The Panamera is only a year older I think. Not much data to go on.

Warranty and Extended Warranty is my advice; we don't even have the time/data to verify whether they would cover it in an Extended Warranty (they should as part of the suspension).

Extended warranty is a valid point. What components would be classed as wear and tear versus actual failed components. Sensors, pumps and control units would be expected to be covered by warranty, however, active dampers would be classed as wear and tear. I expect the difficulty will come in what parts are integrated, are the dampers a complete unit with the ecu and pump ?.

Damper failure is not wear and tear, it will be covered, unless you hit something so hard on the road that you physically broke it, in which case your insurance will cover it.

Front struts are a single unit, priced at 2200 EUR + VAT each. It's only 200 EUR more than a non-active ride strut.
Rear air cushions are 1600 EUR for the AR part and 1400 EUR for the non-AR part so also very similar price difference.

All four corners are separate and there are hydraulic lines going from the servos to the dampers.
The expensive parts that do not exist without AR are the servos at 5500 EUR + VAT, but those should be in all cases covered by warranty.

I only have 10k miles on my active ride, but it's been ~16-months and faultless. You hear about the problems on this forum because that is where people come to report such things and get support.
Active ride is amazing and you should definitely get it. Passengers who don't know anything about Taycans (or Porsche) are like "Whoa, did the car just raise up when I opened the door?" The body leveling and handling are amazing and you would be missing out to skip the AR option.

Thanks Trycan. It’s good to hear positive feedback on PAR.

PAR is alien technology. If you can afford the option, you should be financially positioned to fix it.

I've read that people are disappointed because of their expectations of a magic carpet. PARs goals were not to mute the road. Muting it would be anti-Porsche. PAR is more of a head-toss eliminator. You will feel bumps, but your head ends up staying fairly motionless in the cabin. That's a huge plus, but it has a minor drawback: your brain is not designed to notice reduction in head-toss.

IMHO, the goals were to deliver the "best" vehicle suspension that modern technology could deliver, balancing price, reliability, and performance.

The paradox of PAR is that the most amazing features are designed to go unnoticed. We have rough and uneven roads on our daily commute, dropping kids off at school, roundabouts. If you only took this route using PAR you would never appreciate it. You can only appreciate it when you take the same route in another car and get tossed around.

Good luck, and enjoy the ride!

I’ve owned my taycan since Last March & im thankful for warranty -

1. Squeaking front suspension - in for days to correct.
2. Bose Speaker failed - In for 2
Days.
3. First HV batt ARB6 planned recall - in for 2 days
3. Fault with driver seat - in for 2 days.
4. Second HV batt ARB6 recall - in for 2 day.
4. Heater servo flap stuck - in for 3 days for & 4k labour heater replacement.

I’m hoping that’s the end of any issues !! But definitely thankful for the warranty & courtesy car every time.

Good luck 🤞🏻

oh I see, good that it's been taken care of :)
No real issues with my MY20 Turbo up to now except the (expected) pretty low range, only 2 weeks so I'm "touching wood" as we say in French lol

Our 2025 Turbo S CT with PAR has 3K miles since 9/2025. Active ride has been flawless. Our other car is a 2018 GT3 and I can attest that the general around town ride and handling of the CT is pure Porsche and has the control feel of the GT3. The GT3 tosses you around on rough road surfaces while the CT transmits the rough feel in the seat but doesn't throw you around. I purchased an extended warranty that covers all items in the original warranty and does not exclude suspension components. Fingers crossed for a long enjoyable life with this awesome Porsche!
