Anyone confirm if there are plastic pieces that snap into the holes vs. an entire panel? (Euro) Next time I'm at the dealer I will inquiry.

One other poss. issue I am have considered but have not discussed as yet is that the NA mounts presumably allow the taller US plates to sit outboard of the lower valance - not sure how much of an issue this is in reality i.e. that some kind of spacers could easily take care of if an issue? Again hopefully with a Euro base mount this perceived issue may go away.

OK - had some good feedback from Charles at Suncoast - turns out that Porsche actually design and build different valances for the rear bumper area to accommodate the different license plates by region!! Seems amazingly OTT but this means that I cannot likely just drop in a UK or German plate base mount to the US spec valance.

You could potentially go mad and buy a UK valance for ca $400 but then not enough info right now as to whether the rear sensors etc. would be a simple retrofit - at this point obviously getting a little ridiculous.

So I'm back to consider options to cover up the holes if indeed present once the US mount is removed - fairly confident there will be cheap but pro looking solutions here.

I imagine it couldn't be hard to 3D print a flat smooth piece that screws into the old mounting holes and covers the old ones. Heck you could maybe find some black painted sheet metal of the correct size and drill your own holes into it using a nut on the back so the plate stays in place on the sheet metal.

Absolutely - had been chatting with a well known poster about this very thing but indeed a lot of options there - first pass was to try to find an easy OEM solution but rapidly thinking a custom job is most probable.

Let me know what you turn up with, I also dislike the license plate holder. Ideally someone could 3D print matching covers for those clear spots.

Has anyone successfully removed the NA rear license plate holder? The two bolts alone do not secure the holder. Apparently there are some tabs also securing the holder. I am wondering how fragile these tabs may be.

This is the look I'd like to have:
I'm interested in this, but I want to understand your objectives:
--You want the license plate mounted to the car without an externally visible frame surrounding the license plate itself?
--You do not want any visible holes in the bumper/frame of the car around the license plate?
--You accept visible bolt heads that attach the plate to the car?

Yes - no - yes :) Not that complicated, I just hate the over the top bulbous US-style plate holder - look at some Euro spec cars and see the difference. Once removed I'll simply put a custom rectangular plate (TBD metal or plastic) over the holesthat a prev poster pointed out (if indeed present on mine) and have my std. plate license plate surround with plate attached to it by whatever means nec.

@Kakatus10 @fgwinn
Once I get my car next week I'll be investigating a solution - might take some time to land on an acceptable alternative. If you guys come up with anything sooner I am all ears :)

While I don't particularly like the appearance of the rear NA license plate holder, I do not intend to eliminate it. I just want to remove it to explore the possibility of installing an aftermarket rear camera. The CT has the socket for the bicycle rack and I am assuming that one of the pins in this socket would supply the back up light on the bicycle rack. I am hoping this pin is also able to power a backup camera.

My CT does not have the 360 degree back up camera option or a front camera so I am exploring an aftermarket solution to mount front and rear cameras. The factory rear camera is good enough about 75% of the time. It's only when someone is parked in the adjacent parking spaces that it gives the illusion that you are only 6" away from the neighboring cars. It's for those cases I am looking for a safer alternative.

What do you mean by "std. plate license plate surround"? The frame/bumper of the car without holes that the plate is attached to, or some additional holder for the license plate?

The latter - I never just attach the plate 'raw' if you will i.e. usually have a plate surround/holder and one I have already purchased is CF.

So I'm having the opposite problem - I'm having my rear valance replaced due to a moron who rear ended me and damaged it.

The replacement does not have the holes yours does, and the body shop has to apparently trim them out.

Maybe if you order a fresh valance you'll get one without holes?
