if im going to spend that kind of $$ it should be quicker
While the Taycan RWD is quick (I would say stupid quick), the model 3P is going to be faster off the line. The model 3 is lighter and the 3P has a very powerful motor. So if all you're looking for is fast, the 3P is the solution.
If you're looking for a great sports car to drive, then any Taycan is light years ahead of the 3P. None of the Tesla's are luxury (the model S is about as close as you get in a Tesla for luxury), and the 3P is definitely not a luxury sports car.
As for the configuration you show, it's pretty awesome. The color is gorgeous, the wheels are awesome and the interior is top notch. You probably can save $20,000 by cutting back on some of the items, but in the end you need to decide how much you're willing to pay.

Current RWD Taycan for the win IMHO is where I'd go. Given dynamics and variables of the market, supply globally, the economy, war in Ukraine, tensions in other places...there is no way to accurately predict when your GTS may arrive. It could be 2 weeks an an allocation drops but if you're in the US I think that is unlikely from all the intel I've seen here and discussions with my SA also earlier about 1 mo ago...just nothing in the US and worse if you're looking for an ST or CT variant of the car.

At least this way if the EV works for you and sounds like it does as you;re a Tesla Model 3 guy I think I read you will have something nice...very nice in hand and you can always upgrade later. Used values may not hold like this forever but hey that is a 1st world problem to trade or sell one Taycan to get into another! Good luck! :)

a few follow ups to the comments:
1) i'm keeping the model 3 no matter what, and its value is likely more resilient than a taycan anyway. still worth ~80% of what it was 4 years ago
2) i loved the RWD taycan when i drove it for a couple days via porsche drive service. rented for 48 hours and it was nearly same spec, and literally a brand new car. 15 miles on the clock. i definitely drove it like a rental and got a good feel for the car, more so than a standard test drive
3) if resale market softens, at least i have a nice car! i could always wait until mid-cycle refresh in a year or two

the only few thing i think i'll be missing:
- the 5th door - i love the look of the ST. couldnt get over the cladding on the CT. looks like my subaru outback, which will go away and be replaced by the 3
- a bit of zip, and chassis bits - PDCC sport, rear steer, sport chrono, brakes big enough to track it
- burmester sound and noise insulating glass

I’m sort of in the same boat. I wanted a 4S sedan or CT4 BUT a brand new RWD with most of the options I wanted fell into my lap. It’s not my top choice for exterior (it’s jet black metallic) but I‘m leaning towards getting it bc who knows how long it will take to get a 4S. It could be 12-18 months.

worst case scenario I get an amazing car, enjoy it, realize I need something faster, then trade up for a 4S and lose some $ on the trade of the RWD - worst case. Best case, I get an amazing car, enjoy it, realize I don’t need anything faster, save $20-30K….and, can stop looking at YouTube videos of motoman, RBR, carwow, and that ornery old British dude!

I currently drive a 2018 M3.

let me know what other thoughts you have as we’re essentially in the same boat. good luck.
