Hello Everyone- I am new to Porsche and this forum. Just ordered my first vehicle - Lock date is May with delivery in July.

https://configurator.porsche.com/porsche-code/PPP9XL27

Would like some suggestions on some of the options selected. The few things I am unsure about and would like some real life experience are with the following
1) Variable Roof- Live in texas so worried about the heat with just the pano roof- but also concered about issues with this tech
2) interior accents- Dark silver vs Neodyme- going with all black leather and trying to brighten up the interior
3) Bose vs Burmester

Looking forward to learning from y'all.

Thanks!

Looking at your build, if you are doing aluminum rhombus to lighten up the interior, I feel the neodyne might clash. I also chose Aluminum rhombus for the trim and did dark silver accents on my incoming GTS for the exact same reason as you to lighten up the interior.

I went with the VLC roof despite the reservations with regard to reliability and or replacement costs because I could not resist the superficial techy aspect. From other threads, apparently even without activating the opacity of the lcd roof, the multilayer composition of the roof is advertised as improving heat rejection compared to the regular panoramic roof or even a panoramic roof with a sliding cloth cover.

Don't forget the 150kw/400v dc converter for use with opening tesla Superchargers even if a rare use case due to the relatively inexpensive cost.

Burmester is a very large price jump for what may not be proportionate improved sound quality, only your preference with regard to audiophile needs will answer that. There have been reports that the Burmester is definitely better, but not as huge of a jump up from Bose as some other vehicles where the top audio is markedly better than the middle option.

Your are doing a lot of high gloss black accents, I would add the sideview mirrors in body color and base in high gloss black option as a finishing touch, I'm biased as I have this for my neptune blue car coming with a lot of gloss black accents except the rear badge which I intend to debadge anyway. (my build linked in my Sig)

To liven up the interior as well consider a contrasting seatbelt color, Bordeaux might look nice to match your calipers. (can match with a bordeaux sport chrono to go all the way)

This might be a little overkill, and depends on your tolerance for these things, but the standard brake discs will occasionally rust when sitting in humid conditions, rain or after a wash and they will instantaneously make your wheels dirty with rust dust as soon as the first caliper braking occurs, I chose the PSCB's purely as a cosmetic option to avoid this issue, but then again, I am a little OCD about these things.

With the racetex standard roof lining, the racetex B pillars are a nice finishing touch if desired. This removes the only really cheap looking and feeling plastic in the interior. Not a deal breaker of course.

No need for Mobile charger connect. You can use the standard charger that comes with the car or even better, a very high quality aftermarket solution for much less money mounted in your garage. I use a Chargepoint Flex, but if I were to do it again I would get a Tesla J1772 wall charger as they seem to do a very good job with these things. By the time you get the wall mount and setup for the Mobile charger connect, you are into it for a few times the cost of one of the choices above or one of many other great choices. The Porsche setup looks really cool though.

I'm sure you may have already thought about it, but rear wheel steer is a nice to have, not that you need the turning circle benefits in Texas, but marginal handling benefits might be noticed.

Just remember, asking us for opinions can be very costly!

Good luck and enjoy the process!

Wow, thanks for the detailed suggestions- hadn't yet optioned in the aluminium rhombus but will definitely consider along with keeping the high gloss black consistent on the mirrors.

Point taken on the mobile charger... need to start planning for the right 3rd party option!

On your linked build, Aluminum Rhombus is checked as a choice( it is a no charge option). So many options, it can get very unwieldy. Once again good luck.

Drop the thermal/noise insulated glass, if you plan to use a radar detector or dashcam with GPS/radar functionality.

Thanks for the great suggestion on full PPF- going to look into good installers soon. I was told by my sales rep that the leather held up better over time than the Racetex so he advised to stick with leather for durability… interesting your experience is different.

If you choose to take the Burmester the side speakers are exactly the same color as neodyme ;)

100 agree with the Ringo Dingo. Alcantara is sublime. Leather has its own wear problems as said.
Also means you won’t be de-GTS-ing your GTS.
That is the first rule of GTS club.

Good to see you keeping unique GTS body kit.
Not festooning it with unnecessary carbon like a Hyundai hatchback.

With Race Tex you unique GTS logo on headrests.
Go mad with Chalk interior GTS pack?
Goes well with beautiful Neptune.
Nicer than Neodim and again, unique to GTS.

People on this forum have been satisfied with the base stereo and even pleasantly surprised when they couldn’t get Bose due to chip shortage.
Don’t right it off.
Bumster unnecessary.

Hi Tobi, I am looking at your original code so if you made changes that would be helpful to put into your signature, so we are looking at your latest.

I agree with the comments so take them in and keep updating your build. A few notes from me:

+ Rule #1 as others said, if you are going for GTS then keep as many so called "exclusive to trim" elements. For example, GTS comes with exclusive to GTS "Interior trim in Black Brushed Aluminum" that matches the sill guards in Black Brushed Aluminum, so going with while free Aluminum Rhombus is not recommended. Other things as I see you need seat cooling by going with Leather, but GTS interior has headrests with GTS logo that you are losing by going with Leather, and so on.

+ 400v/150kw now is a no brainer add given that at least in 2 states Tesla superchargers are accessible

- No need for the expensive Porsche charger as others said as it is bulky, does not work well, so 3rd party is recommended for the wall charger and much cheaper and more reliable with good phone apps optional as you can control charging modes with the car and make the charger just supply power. You still get the mobile one with the car so why drop $1,120 with so many better alternatives.

- Strong No on the VLC from me as one of the most outspoken members on this forum against VLC. It is just not ready for prime time. Function is very limited by making the bright sun just a little bit cloudy and looking milky white when on with several reports of panels not turning off with one seeing for myself. If you want to take that risk and then wait on the replacement roof for months and then gutting your Taycan, please go ahead but seeing the owner of the brand-new GTS with this roof issue, was painful and still not resolved since it was delivered in August.

- Other cosmetic bits are cheaper from Suncoast: key leather pouch, door projectors, weather mats, screen protector etc. and so on as you will most likely be getting clear side markers from them anyway. So those are a No from me to keep the build simple as you never know some of these will delay your delivery. I would not be taking chances and get them from Suncoast.

You have a long way to go so take your time and keep getting your build right.

Hey Sergey,
Thanks for the great recommendation and advice. I am ditching the charger after reading more and will definitely take your advice on the cosmetic bits. I am still unconvinced the VLC is worth it so hearing about the pain and suffering of someone else is good advice. I am leaning towards removing it and using the $$ to help pay for a full PPF wrap.

will also check out Suncoast for some of their add ons as well.

Really appreciate the points you made.
