Rather unexpectedly, I was greeted by a push message from the My Porsche app this morning when I woke up. And i thought i would share here, since I hadn’t read or heard about this functionality of the App anywhere yet.

“The manufacturing process of your Taycan is starting soon”. The car now shows up in the “vehicles” section of the App and the VIN number is displayed. The functionality does, however, still seem to be quite limited:

- there are two phases: 1) Manufacturing process about to start 2) manufacturing complete (lol)
- Other than the VIN, vehicle type (Taycan GTS ST) and the status there is no vehicle specific information being shown (There is also a part where you can listen to the digital sound, which at least seems to be the GTS sound, but i might be wrong about that).

Is this a new feature of the app? I didn’t receive any information when I ordered my GT4 in 2020 from the same dealer and i haven’t read anything else about this in the MyPorsche App. Am i right in assuming that so far TYD has been offered through a separate app to US customers?

Order placed: November 2021
Initial delivery indication from the dealer: End of March early April 2022
Revised delivery date (called the dealer 2 weeks ago, when the car hadn’t shown up): Last week of May 2022.

Pretty excited for the car to finally show up, so this was a welcome indication that there is some progress being made.

Yes. I had the same occur. The app is somewhat delayed relative to FYD. When my vehicle was built, I followed it closely for several days via FYD, which noted that it had already gotten to port before I got an email letting me know a few days later on a Friday that the car had been built. Up until then, there was a dichotomy between what the main page said “2: scheduled for production” and FYD: built and being delivered to port, etc.

I’m in a similar timeframe as yours. My vehicle was just built on 4/21 with a 5/27 delivery date in the US. I’m hoping that my Taycan will make it onto the ship as scheduled 4/29, as I’ve seen many people mention that their vehicles sat there for weeks before making it to the next stage. ??

I thought this was only available in the US. I will contact my dealership to see if this has been rolled out to Belgium as well

I was under the same impression until this morning, hence my surprise. this does, however, seem to be different from the TYD (Track your dream) program which has been offered to US customers so far.

Also: I would not invest too much time into this as so far the usefulness is really limited…..
1) I received the first notification about 4 weeks prior to delivery
2) From what i see on the app the next notification is going to tell me that production has been completed

Unless I am missing something, this really doesn’t provide you with a whole lot of useful/entertaining info. Might post a couple of updates on how this unfolds.

The dealer has to add your car to your account. When my car arrived in Belgium the dealer added it and I can see my car VIN and configuration in the app. I was able to activate charging services and add my Apple Music to my Porsche account. I received the rfid charge card today. But no tracking before production.

Agreed. This is more ’after the fact’ info. However, having it integrated into the My Porsche app is helpful…and if they add the full functionality (TYD) they will have a useful tool. I have no confirmation that they intend to do that but it seems that this is where they are headed.

Would be nice if they shared the plan with us….
