Hi All - Just got my EV charger installed today in my garage. The car is currently sitting in the port waiting on inspection clearance. Question....With this charger I should be getting 11kw from this charger correct? How long does it take to charge from 20% to 85%? Just trying to figure out the time management settings for the charger. Thanks

I have it installed as well and charged 2 times now using Timer function of the car under the following conditions:

- Configure the Emporia charger in its app for 48Amp output, assuming you have 60Amp input circuit.
- Yes, under this setup, you will be getting close to 11kW so if it shows 10.x kW then it is working as expected.
- Why do you care how long it takes to charge if you are charging at night? If you need to know exactly, then you can use Direct charge feature and just time it by watching the My Porsche App from 20% to 85% during the day, for example.
- I plug it in the evening, set the Timer to be 85% by morning time, then it charges in sprints and by the target morning time it is 85% and it stops charging.

Hi there, I have the same charger hard wired to 48amp like you.

However with my 24 GTS, when I do timer and profile setup for some reason its not working.
After plugging the car, it starts off as 'on hold' and blue light for a second but then the charger and car continuously go back and forth until eventually I get the red light and says 'charging not possible'.
Direct charge no problem, smooth! But as you know that goes to 100% unless i manually monitor.
Profile only setup without timer no problem as well to start, but for this setup if I set at say 85%, it goes up to it, then pauses, then resumes and goes past the 85 to to 100%, as if it ignores the profile. I wake up in the am and the charge is at 100, not 85.

Did you do anything on the Emporia charger itself to handshake with the car? I have a feeling this may be the issue. I was going to try a porsche charger at dealer to confirm but thought I'd ask anyways. Thanks!

I have not had an issue since I started using this protocol.

Profile is Disabled
Timer set for 85% Daily 6am
I only plug in once a week at 9pm

I go to Emporia app first and say Go and it starts clicking until the app says charge is provided but waiting for car

Then I plug to the car, it goes White blink and then Green and all good, I walk away.

Morning time 8am, 85% sharp. I go to Emporia app and stop charge. Then I unplug.

I am happy to video the process and share via PM

Ensure there is no programmatic control enabled on your EVSE otherwise it will conflict with the PCM.

Timer and profile needed to control both charge level and ready by (departure time).

When I had the loaner a couple of weeks ago, I tried my rather complicated charging plan.

The Wallbox EVSE is set to charge between 20:00 and 15:00 because I pay a 3 cent surcharge between 3 PM and 8 PM.

I set up a Home profile in the car with preferred charging hours of 23:00 to 05:00 because I get a 2 cent discount then. It was also set for a minimum charge of 25%. Timer was set to 100% ready at 05:00.

What I observed when I plugged the car is that at 5 PM was that it did nothing. At eight PM, the car, which was at 22%, charged at 10.9 Amps for less than thirty minutes, then stopped at 25%. Then a bit after ten PM it started charging at 10.9 amps again and reached 100% just before 5 AM.

So at least in some cases the timer on the EVSE can indeed coordinate and play nicely with the timers and profiles in the car. I suspect though that you should only use the EVSE's timer to block charging when you don't want to charge.

I am having this exact issue with Emporia charger with timer only setup (set to 85% daily). Did you find a solution?

- Tried removing timer via PCM and adding it back.

- Charger has no schedule set.

- Direct charging works.

- If I put the car to direct charging before plugging the charger, then plug the charger, let it charge the car for a few seconds and then switch off the direct charging, the car goes back to 'initializing' and then magically stay in 'on hold' (aka blue light) as expected.

Its a handshake issue between the car and charger. Can work around it. The charger itself is great for the price!

I had no issues for say 5 times in a row until I did run into this exact problem with Emporia. The solution is exactly that above, start Emporia so its app says Ready and waiting to plug into the car, then start in Direct mode so the Emporia gets a signal that the car is accepting charge, wait for Green Light on car and Green Wave in the App then turn Direct mode off, then the Timer takes over with car in Blue Light and Blue Wave in the App.

Hmm, why that extra step? I just plug it in... it starts clicking as soon as it's plugged in.
I will try it, it did not work before, but should, if I just plug in, so added this step.

Yup, no need to do anything with Emporia app. That being said, ordering is important, otherwise it goes into the loop I described above and won't recover.

What works for me is

- Enable "direct charging" before plugging the charger (either via PCM or via the Porsche app)
- Plug the charger and wait for the green light
- Disable direct charging (either via the PCM or via the Porsche app)
- Car will stay in "on hold" with blue light

I'll try to chat with Emporia support and report back if anything solves this. Various reddit posts suggests that the support may have some tuning knobs that they can enable remotely to alter the handshake behavior.

Good news! Emproria customer support (using their live chat option in the app) fixed the issue via "disabling the retry charge option" remotely and now the charger seems to stays in "Offering Charge" state instead of going in to that death spiral.
