(This is a repost, which I have converted to a poll.)

I have an '20 4S and got an offer for PAW, but haven't decided yet.

My considerations:
  • The PAW doesn't cover the battery, but I have still 3 yrs left on battery guarantee (8 yrs in Norway).
  • Wears and tears is not covered.
  • The are fewer parts that goes wrong on EV's than ICE's
  • You must go through a 111 check point list, same as for ICE, even though EV's doesn't have all the parts.
  • It's seems expensive (cost/benefit)
  • The whole German car industry is failing, incl. Porsche. The outcome is uncertain.

I got the current offer (inclusive Tax):
  • 111 Check points: 4 000 kr ($359 / €343)
  • 1 yr PAW: 24 716 kr ($2 216 / €2 121)
  • 2 yrs PAW: 42 972 kr ($3 852 / €3 687)
  • 3 yrs PAW: 60 180 kr ($5 395 / €5 164)
Currently, I lead to not to purchase PAW. I would like to know what others have been offered, before I make a final decision.

I have made a poll where prices are exclusive Tax, to be better able to compare prices cross borders.

The numbers don't quite work out for the UK - it's £3k (and apparently non-negotiable due to the type of product it is). Best fit is the first one.

Price is not negotiable, but does vary from dealership to dealership. So you can shop around.

If you're putting a lot of kms (or miles) on the car per year, it might shift the decision for some people.
Also, some people just sleep better at night knowing that they are covered by an extended warranty.
It's hard to factor those things into a poll, but I appreciate you trying to bring a little price transparency to the process and comparing data with everyone.

Does anyone understand what these third party so-called warranties actually cover? When you read the agreement it mostly tells you what it doesn't cover.

Everything else and 100% of labour and parts.
IMO Porsche Approved is quite potent as an extended warranty.

It's as good as the car comes with from the factory.

Aftermarket warranties quite often aren't.

My MY21 was sold as a certified Porsche used car in 2023, which gave it two years of extended warranty. That means if I start paying for the additional extended warranty I've got six years that I still have to pay for. It puts me in somewhat of a quandary. I would have to pay for an eight year warranty and only get two years value. Doesn't seem worth it.

I have difficulties understanding.
You buy 1/2/3 years of additional warranty for those years to come.
Without buying, you would be out of warranty. ?

The coverage starts at the time of purchase in this case 2021 and runs concurrently with the factory warranty
The factory warranty would have run 2021-2024 (assuming the US gets the same 3yrs as the UK).

The 2yr approved used warranty you got meant that period effectively ran to 2025 (2yrs from when you bought in 2023, overriding the factory warranty expiry. If you'd bought in 2022, it would simply have run per factory give or take a month or however many).

Any extended warranty you now buy will be from that 2025 date. So you don't lose anything. If you buy a 3yr warranty, you are covered until 2028 (or the mileage limit) for example.

Caveat - this is how it works in the UK (and I think most other places!).
