Purchasing my First Tayacn

Ymmv on a lot of things but it also hinges on where you live and how you drive:

1. Southern states - you want ventilated seats because it is hot and muggy
2. HUD - I like knowing my speed as I’m driving, and I use Porsche’s navigation system for road trips. It’s integrated and find it super useful so I don’t have to look down.
3. Heated steering wheel - rarely gets cold here so I would do without
4. Race Tex- see above regarding living in warm temperatures. It looks nice but in my previous experience sweating, humidity can make it look weathered.
5. PB+ yes
6. Rear axle steering - yes, the turning ratio is small and can maneuver better
7. ALK, ACC, InnoDrive can be activated by FoD so don’t disregard a vehicle if it doesn’t have this. Mine didn’t have ACC and I activated it after I drove it.

Built in NAV as a benefit of HUD this side of the pond isn’t going to be much use until they make the nav actually reliable due to the crashing issue. There is the workaround but it’s very much not ideal

FoD innodrive with ALK as I understand it is different to Innodrive from the factory. Can’t remember specifics but I think the Innodrive FoD doesn’t have ALK or something? There is a thread here with the info on, somewhere

After you take ownership of your car and setup Porsche Connected Services, you can login to the Porsche Connected Marketplace where you can see Functions on Demand and purchase services that didn’t come with the vehicle. In my case my 4S came with Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control, so I enabled Active Lane Keeping. I have the option to enable InnoDrive or PIRM but I’m holding off on those. Just make sure you have the hardware for the services in the vehicle.

IMO the wheel style is very important, 2nd most impactful decision to make after color.

Necessary for me:

1. Glass roof - never seen one without.
2. Great colour - personal choice. Oak Green is the best j1.2, for j1.1 silver, grey or blue.
3. ACC - great for motorways, dual carriageways, keeping your license on camera-heavy roads.
4. RAS - essential for UK parking.
5. Full leather.
6. LED matrix.
7. Sport Chrono - the boost button is great, though that may be j1.2 only.
8. Surround view - very important but it's still pretty crap. And reversing at night is generally terrible - lights and cameras poor.
9. Comfort heated seats.
10. Heated steering wheel.
11. Bose.

Preferred:

1. Noise insulated glass.
2. Vented seats.
3. HUD if you use satnav a lot (though I found the the j1.1 was better than j1.2).
4. Roof rails if you think you may need a roof box - they cannot be retro fitted.
5. 20" wheels. Don't look as good as 21", but given the state of the roads they give a much better ride.

Waste of time for me:

1. Passenger display looks impressive and no one has ever used it. I control the music
2. Adaptive seats - comfort seats grip really well and are simply better.

Congrats! You should ask if the 22kW OBC has not been replaced by an 11kW and ask for lower sales price if it has.
