Yes of the options I’d say passenger display isn’t essential.

On the Taycan CTs the performance battery plus is pretty standard for the years I’m looking at.

and yes I did wonder how much I may use the sports chrono but maybe I’m mistaken but does that come with heated steering wheel? Or is that a separate option?
Passenger display is super useful in my household because my son uses it to manage the music, help me with navigation, or to see the chrono app. My wife uses it for music and to see how fast I’m driving 🤣

Hi! When I was spec-ing mine I found this video to be helpful. There are so many nice to haves and use cases that can justify anything. Personally. I think Active Ride and the Burmester make it go to 11!

No-one is spec-ing a new Taycan because they need transport! - everyone knows there are much cheaper options to achieve almost all 'needs', except the Porsche experience. I also don't think anyone looking at the Porsche option sheet is really concerned with what those options may be worth on resale.

Summary: if you can afford to pay for your dream Taycan spec then go for it.

Hi all

I’ve been reading the posts here for a few weeks.

I’m in the process of getting my first taycan which will also be my first EV. Any advice is welcome.

I’m looking at a MY22/23 4S cross tourismo. I’ll be looking to buy directly from a Porsche dealership as you get the added warranty

some of the extras I’d like are

pan roof
Sports chrono pack
Upgraded sound system
4+1 seats
Passenger display

Would be good to know if there are any other options you would recommend and if any of the above aren’t great.

Thanks in advance
As a UK owner I would listen more to what other UK owners recommend. Climate / geography / roads etc vary massively from country to country.
Eg Some people overseas barely use their heaters or windscreen wipers!

I would have surround parking right at the top. Our roads and parking can be very tight.

Rear wheel steering also useful in this respect.

I would be indifferent with Sport Chrono personally.

I would only really need Pano roof if you have rear passengers a lot (it can feel cramped in the back otherwise). If no kids etc I would have gone coloured interior instead.

PB+ probably tops most lists.

Memory seats if more than 1 driver.

Upgraded stereo if you like music. Standard fine if you listen to Talk radio.

Sports Chrono essential for me, I change drive modes a lot and the wheel is superb to do this quickly and effortlessly without looking down.

Surround parking for better cameras than the standard reverse camera which is truly awful. On my J1.2 I did not option surround view thinking/hoping Porsche would have fitted a better standard reverse camera than something from the 1990s, sadly I was wrong and my J1.2 it has the same reverse camera as the J1.1 -awful.

Options personal choice, RAS, noise insulation glass, extended leather and Bose are must haves for me.

Turns out I like to drive the cars I own.
Honestly this has nothing to do with ACC, if it were FSD then yeah. There’s no better feeling than delegating the stop/go to my car on annoying bumper to bumper traffic on a highway, especially with how well the Taycan does it where it doesn’t leave a gap, nor there are sudden hard brakes. If you don’t have to deal with this in your commute, then fine.

PB+, PTV and rear wheel steer would be the highest up for me, the latter two really helping the way the car drives. I think PTV may have become std on the 4S around this time.

From there, it's down to you.

Lane change assist (blind spot aid) I find incredibly useful.

Pano roof will always be high up the list. Lifts the interior.

On a 4S, take care understanding internal materials...nice leather, decent steering wheel and alcantara headliner etc help make the car feel more premium.

Auto dimming mirrors, electric folding and heated wing mirrors should all have been standard.

No need to go higher than a Bose system IMO.

HUD very optional...I use it on long trips, but much prefer the way the driver's binnacle looks without.

Passenger screen my kids use a lot.

Heated rear seats my kids use a lot (plus the 4-zone climate).

Noise insulating glass knacks phone coverage but does quieten things down a bit.

I think air suspension was std on the 4S.

I like Sport Chrono.

I'd also seriously consider LED matrix lights.

Be patient. Plenty of cars available.

Dito on HUD... I turned it off a few days after I got the car and figured out how.

Thanks for the replies some really interesting and informative views.

Here is a spec that I’ve seen that I’m considering. With it being used I appreciate I’m not going to get everything I may want. So I doesn’t have the sports chrono or 4+1 from what I can see. But the other option seem to be well spec’d

**Specification Highlights**

**Exterior**
Cherry Metallic paint
Roof rails in Black Aluminium
Electric folding exterior mirrors
Deletion of model designation
Fixed panoramic glass roof
Grey top-tinted windscreen

**Wheels & Chassis**
20-inch Offroad Design wheels
Rear-Axle Steering including Power Steering Plus

**Interior & Technology**
Head-Up Display
BOSE® Surround Sound System
E-Mobility 22 kW on-board AC charger
150 kW DC on-board charging booster
Public charging cable (Mode 3)

**Assistance & Safety**
ParkAssist including Surround View
Porsche InnoDrive including Adaptive Cruise Control
Lane Keep Assist with Emergency Assist
Night View Assist
Crossroad Assist Comfort Access

As a small note be aware the 22kw chargers are all crap and if it dies, or has died, Porsche will replace it with the standard 11kw one.

not an issue really but be aware!

Spec looks decent otherwise!

I bought a 2023 used CT4S with a massive spec, more than I would have ordered from new, but it was a great price with very low mileage, and had the all important option of 'prep for rear bike carrier' that I needed (plus it also came with the OEM bike carrier too!).

Having lived with the car now for 6 months some of the spec is great, some I can do without. I'll list some of the big ticket options below for you as no doubt you can decide on the more obvious spec yourself:
- 18 way adaptive sports seats - very comfortable (not tried the standard or comfort seats) but these are great. Some of the best seats I've had in car.
- Passenger display - Fun for about a week, but could live without it. As a diver you never use it and most passengers comment on it , but it never really gets 'used' by them.
- Roof lining Racetex - looks and feels very expensive, but that's because it is at nearly £2k!. I'd not tick that box myself but it's lovely to have if it's on a used car!
- Sport Chrono - love the dial on the steering wheel, great for quick changes between modes.
- Rear axle steering - I've only driven one other CT4S that didn't have it, can't really comment on this as its hard to compare as not driven them back to back. However, most folks say it's well worth having and makes the car more agile. Perhaps see if you can try two cars back to back and compare?
- Advanced climate 4 zone (rear climate) - wouldn't bother ticking this myself, but nice to have for folks in the rear.
- Steering wheel heating - a must in the winter in the UK.
- 150kw on board charger - needed if you're charging at Tesla / 400v charging stations.
- Head-up display - it's ok, but not something I'd miss. In fact sometimes I find it just gets in the way (it can be turned off).
- ParkAssist inc surround view - it's a large car with pretty poor visibility, so this is a real plus for manoeuvring in tight spaces and parking by kerbs etc. Well worth having to protect your alloys.
- Electric Charging cover - looks good and a nice touch, but sometimes you can't beat a bog standard hinged flap! Especially if the electric cover were to fail, then you're stuffed!
- 4+1 seats - I'd say this is essential for re-sale. Porsche Tewkesbury recently had a GTS Sport Turismo that didn't have it, and it sat on the mkt for bloody ages. Beware.
- Ventilated seats - not used mine yet, but I can imagine in the summer they'd be nice. Not sure it's hot enough in the UK to warrant worrying about finding a car with them though.

Personally I'd find a car that ticks your boxes in terms of appearance and the essential options that you really want, anything over and above is then a bonus. You can set up an email alert on Porsche Pre-owned website. You select the model, colour and options you want, and it will email you when a car comes up in the Porsche network. That's how I found my car. Also most importantly make sure you get a Porsche warranty too. These are very expensive cars to repair when things go wrong, and they will.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

I think the adaptive cruise control is a must. Not only does it make motorway driving really easy and safer (keeping a fixed distant between you and the car in front), but it also means you have the radar system which makes the emergency braking system more robust ;)
