Love the idea of the upgrade, but I'm too much of a scaredy-cat to do it.

But one suggestion, which i'm sure people would love is if the upgrade included being able to start the car up in whatever mode it was last used in, rather than always starting in normal.

I await my royalties....

You don't need this expensive upgrade just to start the car in whatever last mode used.
Code:
This is possible by coding using the PIWIS program:
In developer mode, under BKE > manual coding without rules:
kodierwert:kodierwert default fahrzustand > fahrzustand = “last mode”
kodierwert:kodierwert default fahrzustand last mode > fahrzustand last mode = “ja”

There is no BKE ECU in PIWIS ECU list for Taycans.

That is strange, because this was what was provided by one of the coding experts.
I haven’t gotten around to getting any coding done, as still trying to source a bootlegged copy of PIWIS. I can‘t afford a proper copy.

I have poked around in the piwis a bit and did not see anything that looked like the last mode setting common in other cars.

Were you in the (German-language only) developer mode? BTW that's where my German-fluent mechanic found the setting to disable the trunk close beeper.

Is that a US-market thing? We don't have that here.

Interesting....Do you know what the equivalent module would be, using something like a VCDS or OBD11 ( in the audi world)

Correct, technically there isn't a 4 model ..... it is just called Taycan.
There is both a base Taycan (RWD) and a Taycan 4. These are all the available powertrain levels of the first gen Taycan:

  • Taycan (rear-wheel drive)
    • 321hp (402hp launch control) with the standard 79.2-kWh battery
    • 375hp (469hp launch control) with 93.4kWh performance battery option
  • Taycan 4
  • Taycan 4S
  • Taycan GTS
  • Taycan Turbo
  • Taycan Turbo S

You need a “special” version of Porsche PIWIS software that has developer mode enabled. Other Porsche forums have all the details on PIWIS, and the compatible OBD adapter hardware.

I’m not sure what’s allowed here and what is not, so I won’t link to other forums. Start by searching google for “Received my new PIWIS III” and you should find a forum post that is almost 200 pages long. You can read through all of that to get all the details. It’s much, much more complicated than the buying/installing the RossTech VAG-COM software.

The easier way would be to contact user “rnlst_log” on that other forum, who is referenced in that thread numerous times. He can tell you where to buy the T6PT3G OBD adapter hardware that is required for the Taycan, which will be around $500 (don’t by the cheaper VAS6154 clone hardware as it won’t work with the Taycan.) He also provides a remote assistance service to help you install the correct version of PIWIS software on your Windows 10 PC.

can anyone respond……
I’ve asked twice in the thread. Just for my reading it doesn’t seem like there’s much that can be done to the turbo or turbo S compared with the base car and 4S
