Hi. Has anybody attempted to replace the night vision camera on their Taycan following damage. I smashed my lens and water ingress has damaged the unit beyond repair. I have bought a brand new unit and curious to know if anybody has attempted to do the replacement themselves, if so what was involved?
TIA

Had mine replaced by Porsche.
It's a bigger DIY, but doable.
Problems could arise with coding and calibration being necessary.
You need PIWIS and calibration tools.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. The unit I’ve purchased has never been coded to a vehicle, and I understand that you only need to code it if you want theft protection. A Porsche representative has indicated that it could be as simple as plug and play as its only a data cable between the unit and the internal display. I’m keen to give it a go and if it doesn’t work Porsche will code and calibrate as long as I have an invoice and VAT receipt for the part, which I have.
I’ll keep you all updated.
Planning on giving it ago tomorrow.

Doesn't fully answer your question about how to code the replacement NVA camera, but here's a related post:
I know you already bought a replacement camera, but for others, here are a couple threads on replacing a smashed NVA lens (the second thread started by OP):

Thanks Genau

For all that are interested I can confirm that the replacement of a night vision camera on a Taycan takes no more than 10 minutes for an untrained mechanic.
The only item that needs to be removed to provide full access is the small plastic bumper section that conceals the camera. This pops off without any difficulty. The bumper and wheel arch liners do not need to be disturbed. You will then see 3 bolts holding the camera cradle to the car, remove these and the camera pulls forward. Unclip the cable and that’s as difficult as it gets. 4 further bolts hold the camera to the cradle that simply unscrew and then self tap to the new camera body to re-mount.
All I need to do now is clear the fault code with a PIWIS or similar diagnostic equipment.
Cost so far is £500 for an original factory supplied camera (This is a VW part used by Porsche).
Porsche quoted me £4500 for the part and £1500 to fit.

Happy that it was so easy in the end! Do you happen to have the VW part number by any chance?
