Model: Taycan RWD (J1.1) 2023 with Performance Battery

Recently, I’ve noticed that charging speeds at Porsche Turbo Charging Stations (360 kW) have been consistently below 180 kW, even when starting the charge session at under 20% battery SOC. So this is not a case of charging at a high battery percentage.
To verify the issue, I also tested at a third party 360 kW DC fast charging station. Even there, charging speeds could not exceed 180 kW while charging at low SOC.
Previously, under similar conditions, the car was able to reach around 224 to 225 kW without any issue.
Has anyone else experienced this recently?

Could this be related to the WST2 update introducing a charging power limitation?

I think I might be having a similar issue… I do not have quantitative facts, but it appears that my car is now not charging as fast at HPC DC chargers since the last few charges; and the only variable seems to be that it had the update…

The fact that I have noticed this 1st time in my 3 years of ownership; means that something is definitely amiss for fast DC charging.

Likely not apples to apples since I have a J1.2 and I don't think I've had WST2 (I had WSQ7 patched two weeks ago), but I just DC charged at over 300kW from ~20% until about 55%, right around 290kW from 50% to 60% and then it started to tail off.

SoC alone is not enough to diagnose the issue.

What is the Battery Temp, which is a big variable to get fast charging.
Is your Battery Friendly On/Off, if On, then it will limit peak speed.

Please check the above and attempt to charge again and note peak speed.

I usually charge only with "slow DC charging" option checked and I also think that it is slower than before. It was able to hit 190kw at low SOC without any preconditioning. Now it hits only 150kw.

EDIT: I am just watching Bjorn's slow charging test www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J-XEFSps4k and comparing to my charging session today and it is almost identical so no speed degradation.

Battery temperature was around 28–30°C.
I also confirmed that the Battery Friendly charging function is turned off.

When I’ve charged at a high rate the battery temperature was 105F, 40C. The last time it went up as high as 124F, 51C during the charge, and it got as high as 266kW

I agree that temperature affects charging performance. However, at the moment, even when I start DC fast charging below 15% SoC, I still cannot reach the optimal charging speed.

For my current Taycan RWD (79kWh) with the Performance Battery, it should normally be able to achieve charging speeds above 220kW, but now it seems to be capped around 180kW.

That is too cold. If I set mine to a fast charger it heats up to at least 35C and then continues to about 40C.

I would try to have it at least at 40C and redo the charging test.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've found that increasing battery temperature doesn't improve charging speed, and the fan is running like crazy, haha.
