Hello Everyone,

Customers often ask me this question when requesting a quote for an extended protection plan: (How long is the quote valid for?) (Is it better to purchase now or later?)

Extended vehicle protection is based on age and mileage. That means the longer you wait, the higher the cost can be. Quotes are normally only valid for 30 days.

If your vehicle is still within the manufacturer’s warranty, now is the perfect time to take advantage of lower rates and more coverage options.

✔ Lock in pricing today
✔ Coverage that lasts beyond the factory warranty
✔ Worth peace of mind- prorated refund or transferable coverage

Message me to secure your extended protection before your vehicle ages out of the best rates. I will need the VIN and mileage for all inquiries.

Do age and mileage within the manufacturer's warranty also affect the price?

That is correct. When generating the quote, the manufacturing start date and mileage at purchase significantly influence the price. The Extension will only begin after the manufacturing warranty expires, regardless of when the VSP is purchased. However, it does lock customers into the discounted price.

What does the manufacturing start date have to do with the warranty? Cars are delivered months after being manufactured and sometime sold months after that...

The manufacturing start date is established once the vehicle has arrived at the dealership and has been activated through the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) process. This date must be recorded on all contracts submitted in support of an extended protection plan.

I would like to give kudos to @kelliporsche for providing me with a fast and good value quote without knowing me at all and I am not even a customer of the dealership she represents. I asked my dealer, who I am a VIP of, to quote, to compare, and of course they have to take advantage by giving me a much higher price under the cover of this is the retail BUT we have "your" price. Usual dealer tactics.

If I'm reading this correctly the same does not apply in Europe to Porsche Approved extended warranty.

As long as the car is in warranty ahead of extension and within absolute age (15yrs)/mileage limits (125k), the price is the price (roughly £1k per annum in the UK). If it's out of warranty, you pay for an inspection, fix what is broken and the price is then the price again.

3rd party warranties are different.

(Only noting as I think this is in the General Taycan area, so anyone could be reading 🙂).

Would it be best to get the warranty a few months prior to the end of the CPO or wait right before it expires? Can you make it start the day the CPO ends?

That is correct, this only applies to the US. I am not familiar with the European guidelines.

As long as the car is in warranty ahead of the extension, it is eligible for a Porsche VSP. If it's out of warranty, you must get an inspection to obtain coverage from Porsche or a third party.

Would it be best to get the warranty a few months prior to the end of the CPO or wait right before it expires? I typically suggest considering additional coverage closer to the expiration of your current CPO warranty. Waiting until then gives you a clearer picture of your needs, helps prevent paying for overlapping coverage, and allows you to explore any updated plans or pricing that may be available. When the time comes, I can present both Porsche and Fidelity protection plan options for you to consider.
Can you make it start the day the CPO ends? Unfortunately, the activation day must be at the time the contract is signed and pushed on our end.
