Does anyone know what this sound is? It's seems to be related to HVAC when it is on low fan speeds. The sound is louder when I open the front cowl up and it seems to be near the firewall. Any ideas?

There was a TSB (can't located it atm) on this for cars up to MY22 and it was described as a HVAC actuator for the vents that had a firmware issue that would cause the motor to reach its "end position" and the click was it resetting.

The TSB mentioned that it wasn't an issue other than the click noise it caused. It was supposed to be fixed from MY23 but I still heard it periodically on my latest Taycan. But it was much more consistent on my MY21 Taycan.

There is plenty of mentions of it across Reddit, Rennlist and this forum. The summary seems to be: you have to accept it!

Maybe a silly question, but does the noise go away once you turn the car off? Also, can you hear it inside the car?

Thank you for this. Bummer though. Need to listen to music more I guess.

Hey, were you able to get the problem resolved? My 2021 4S has the exact same noise and it’s really starting to bother me every day.

Unfortunately not. Its still there it comes in chunks, depending on the fan speed and temp. I’ve tried to ignore it.

I also have this occasionally. Seems to occur mostly when slowing down at junctions., but can also occur at other times.
A momentary thing. My experience is that, especially if you can’t reproduce something on demand, the dealer hasn’t anything to go on. It doesn’t seem to impact anything, and happens infrequently so I just live with it.

I think the noise is definitely not normal, and apparently there seems to be no solution for it. In my case it’s already quite loud, and you can even hear it sometimes on the highway. It definitely comes from the interior ventilation — as soon as I switch off the AC, it’s immediately gone. I once read something about the HVAC possibly being related. Does anyone by any chance know what’s located under the wiper linkage, right in the middle at the front of the Taycan? Which sensors or control units could be causing this?

I have this same annoying ticking. I thought it was suspension or PDCC related, but after sitting in park while doing something in my phone I continued to hear it. Turned the HVAC off and it was gone. That led me to this thread. In my case it is almost inaudible, but my ears turn into microphones when I get into the car. Anyone has an update on this?
