Thanks for that.. according to the detailer reviews the newest Xpel WPF is less likely to have the possible distortion and haze other older products may have. They also have a “XPEL WPF restore product you use every 6 months to help with longevity. I read that even with the films that may have a bit of distortion it’s not distracting as you drive. Much better than having to peer through peppered glass!

I agree with all of this.

Being in San Diego, its a no brainer.

I should be in SD soon if you would like to see it how it looks in person

I am a careful, defensive driver and would keep plenty of distance from other cars on the highway to avoid rock chips/rash; with that said my original windshield was collecting small pits from rocks and saw one or 2 hard impacts within 6 months.

After getting a new windshield due to panoramic roof replacement, I got Exoshield GT3+ film applied to the WS, at the same time I had my WS tinted. I originally asked for XPEL WPF (I figured they would use it because they applied XPEL Ultimate+ on my car) but the Exoshield is what my installer offered & recommended. The Exoshield film has a 3-yr warranty and is performing well with the rainy PNW climate and heavy use of wipers. The installer coated it with Optimum Opti-Glass, and rain flies off better than Kamikaze Window Coat on my original WS, and no wiper judder.

Like @Mr.Smith mentioned, regularly keeping the wiper blades and windshield clean is important to preserve the film and that may be the only downside to it. Exoshield claims wiper blades would not scratch the film but dirt/debris on the blades may. I believe them; although I keep it clean, it's hard to do on a winter PCA tour (https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...-taycan-with-scenery.2117/page-55#post-475844). If I examine the film closely with a detailing light from the outside, I may see a hint of faint scratching from the wiper blade at the end, but not visible from the cabin.

Cost was $800 from my trusted film installer in Bellevue, WA. It's labor-intensive and they ended up keeping my car overnight to ensure it was perfect. After the film installation cured, it is very clear and practically invisible.

A week after installation, it paid for itself when an object flew across the highway hit my hood and bounced into the windshield; it left a gash on my hood's XPEL film, almost penetrating it, and only a small pit on the windshield film.

Absolutely recommended for this car as it begs to be driven on the highway. Just the piece-of-mind is worth it.
