Anyone following development of the BMW M3 EV? Just confirmed with Quad Motors. Having a motor controlling each wheel independently should allow for good handling.

Fast EVs aren’t rare. They pretty much all are.

Fast GOOD LOOKING EVs are extremely rare.

This is your opportunity BMW. Unfortunately their designers have been disappointing in recent years.

They should fire all their designers, hire a 20 year old kid with access to the paid version of chat GPT and have that redesign the whole line.

All I care is whether I can get the iM3 Touring here for my next car (in around 2028).
Otherwise, I'm already trying to come to terms with whether the iMX4 (or whatever it will be called) can be passed off as sort of a bloated wagon (as opposed to a bizarrely squashed SUV).

Yeesh, I hope not. I don’t think I could convince myself to like it.

But there are very few BMWs I like the look of at the moment, so maybe not the target audience.

I'm following as well. The I4 and i5 have proven very successful around here and are generally very well built cars with no major issues. So if the do a proper M3 variant I would be interested in it as well. I surely prefer Porsche but with them being so outdated with their offering I won't buy one again and have started looking elsewhere.

I do however fear that the i3 will get the touch button steering wheel they recently introduced in the new iX3 - That would put me off buying the car (Yes I'm picky

)

I've owned an M5, 540 Sport (6-speed manual), and drove an i4 for 15 months before purchasing my 2025 Taycan. Personally, I'd take a Porsche all day vs. the BMW. The driving experience and build quality of the Porsche is simply superior IMO.

Admittedly, both the i4 and the Taycan have UI issues - they are both extremely non-intuitive. Tesla (I've owned 4 in the last 12 years), and my wife's Rivian R1S have far better on-board interfaces.

I thought I would learn to like the i4 design after I bought it. I was wrong.
