I'm jealous! Sound quality seems to be incredible, even when listening over my laptop speakers.

I'd love to do something like this, I'm just afraid of taking the car apart the way it was, although the guy at PSSOUND is top notch at what he does.

Couple more vids on the project here:

Impressive. Both in terms of sound and confidence to never have to call in warranty.

It's why it is labeled "secret" and not "Taycan." For fear of the dealer finding out and nulling the warranty.

I think only parts of the warranty are voided, how can a custom sound system affect the heater.

Good to see somebody pointing out fewer good quality drivers will give a better sound than lots of mediocre ones and power isn’t as important as people think.
I may give them a ring about DSPing the standard system, if they think it is worthwhile.

Clause 2.18.4 of the New Car Warranty gives them an out.

Porsche Taycan Secret Audiophile Project - which one of the UK members did this? Screenshot 2023-01-01 at 18.16.29

Context: I had Porsche refuse to even try to diagnose an issue with a previous car due to the (unrelated) presence of a Dashcam wired into a 12v fuse. They quoted that clause of the new car warranty document.

I think the dealers will try to get away with whatever they can. I also think it depends on region. US consumers are pretty protected.

I added an aftermarket dash cam to my e-hybrid Cayenne. Months later, I had a battery issue that required a new battery (not the 12v) and it was a $3500 replacement. The dealer told me that they will replace it under warranty out of good will, but blamed the dash cam and said that next time, they would not replace it.

I asked them to prove by showing me that the dash cam was causing the excessive drain on the battery. They said that when they measured it, the dash cam was drawing next to no power from the battery.

The owner, Peter, has more videos on his Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/pssound/posts). It requires a subscription but you can see more videos (there are 9 of them) regarding this install. I watched them all and the level of detail and analysis he goes into is quite amazing, not to mention the fabrication that he and his team does with custom speaker enclosures and mounts.

I have zero interest in big mods to a car for audio - went through that years ago - but since then DSP corrections for the non ideal location of the speaker drivers is feasible, so I may investigate that.

That doesn't surprise me, but now I see the actual clauses, the liability waiver (para 2.18) only relates to claims directly or indirectly relating to the sub-paras that follow. So the waiver doesn't apply when there's no relationship between those paras and the defect. If they refuse to diagnose, they haven't demonstrated that there is any relationship.
(Admittedly, I'm no lawyer.)

Was it via a separate fuse, or sharing a fuse with Porsche electronics? If the latter, was is simple to un-hardwire it?
