I got this Xpel on my paint, wheels and calipers along with PPF. This is not an economical solution but it does offer additional peace of mind. In terms of what to look for, the key is in the paint correction (especially if you are doing a coating only). Look for someone that typically works on higher end vehicles. Really good shops will have a portfolio of work that you can view in person or online.
I've had Xpel and Ceramic Pro on my car for over three years now, and it is truly phenomenal. I can just wipe the car with a damp cloth, even after our worst snowstorm and all sorts of grime, sludge and dirt all over the car. I believe the Xpel is one of the best films, and I get a Ceramic Pro 'refresh' every year for $100. I like this a lot better than having 'two in one' film+ceramic because I know I'm getting a new ceramic coat with UV cure every year. An earlier poster mentioned waxing, and in addition to this being completely unnecessary if your ceramic coat is good, I was specifically told NOT to wax the car, because it could cloud the ceramic.

A properly maintained coating will last longer than the coating warranty in many cases. Annual coating maintenance is best practice. I have only had my car for about 30 days and have already topped my coating twice. Of course, while this is fun for me, it is not necessary to take it this far.

Yes on the PPF. PPF will never stick on a paint cover with ceramic coating.
So why put ceramic coating on an hydrophobic film. Also the STEK and XPEL films are self healing.

A year ago the self healing from xpel was not hydrophobic when I asked for a quote.
Then yes no need to add coating on the case.

Adding a coating to most PPFs does not affect their self healing abilities. This is potentially a long conversation but my view is that if you have applied PPF you are winning. If you add a coating, even better (although not absolutely required).

That's what I believe hence I have chosen STEK. But I still do not see what a ceramic coating will add to a PPF which is already hydrophobic.

This comes down to layers of protection…if you have PPF, you have one layer and that is likely good enough for most people.

But it sounds like the ceramic coating does not build up on the PPF anyway and doesn't therefore last as long as on paint. I'm going to take the advice of my installer on only put carnauba wax on and do this regularly. Way cheaper.

Generally, taking the advice of an installer is a good idea when it comes to maintaining the product they install. Many installers are certified by the PPF manufacturer which includes how to maintain their specific product.

Detailing is a hobby for me. I get deep into small details when it comes to my hobbies in pursuit of perfection. No need to go there for most people.

Good point. I had XPEL installed on one of my previous cars in the UK and he insisted on Carnauba wax only and with no colour dyes.

Adding a top coat to a ppf which doesn't already have one, produces that super hydrophobic property to the film. It makes the car stay cleaner, and also easier to clean. In addition to this I use a crspotless de-ionizing system as well. Wash and dry is as easy as it gets. I simply use my leaf blower to dry the car. If in a rush.....I wash and let it sit. The crspotless is truly spot free as long as you do a good job washing and rinsing.

Not cheaper if you figure how much your time is worth...;)

Looking for guideance on the use of professionally applied ceramic coating on a new GTS. What should I be looking for, any issues and general costs. I am currently looking at XPEL Fushion Plus being applied by a local dealer in either Tuscon or Scottdale AZ.
