But in my totally subjective experience, on non Taycan cars, is that over 45, maybe 50 mph, I can't tell If I am with or without PS+. It's specially perceptible at very low speed but doesn't fade out entirely until you reach a something respectable. At low speed, the steering is noticeably lighter, the ratio or the precision doesn't change, just the EPS boost. As for the feels, the steering is lighter, you can steer with a single finger in a parking lot, but it also numb down the road where I am spending most of my time driving. I personally don't mind my car to be a little more of a handful during normal driving as I like to be reminded that I am driving something sporty .

I'd assumed that PSP is only lighter than PS at parking speeds, and enables more precision than PS
at and above motorway speeds.

No “need” per se but I am on the other camp as far as PS+(PSP?) is concerned. I don’t understand how some folks like it so much . That being said, I am coming from a cayman, drove a bunch of 911 over the years and find non-PS+ more communicative at lowish(<50mph) speed. Even on an older cayenne, coding out the option improve road feel significantly at low speed.

I had a 981 Boxster S with PSP for 12 years just sold it last month so I've grown up with it. Each to their own..

If anyone can do electric steering then that has to be Porsche.

My guess is that it is that RAS is sold on the Taycan as a parking aid and not much as a performance option and they decided to bundled the 2 together to avoid confusion.

Umm what? At $1700 that's one expensive parking aid. This parking aid quality of rear active steer you speak of is just a side effect of what Porsche originally developed RAS for in the first place.

If they originally put RAS on smaller 911s, I'd check the RAS option for a Taycan every time--not for a parking aid.

I don't think RAS on the Taycan was initially intended as a parking aid. It has a 2 degree movement I believe? Other manufacturers who do equip their vehicles with RAS put 5 degree or more.

Not saying it doesn't help parking but by the specs, doesn't seem that's the primary use case.

I agree. It’s not engineered as a parking aid as the system is basically the same on the 911. And also the reason why I specced it. What I meant in my comment is that is was marketed partially as a parking aid, at least in Europe. That might explain why it was bundled with PSP?!?!

While we can debate endlessly about the benefits of the PSP, I personally don’t like it and would like to get rid of it.

100% with you here. Porsche make the best EPS in the market, but this statement is orthogonal with liking or not PSP.

Taycan is relatively a large car albeit with clever design that somehow disguises its proportions brilliantly, so RAS is a huge help parking and generally manoeuvring at slow speeds. Very few people spec it but I’ve tried it and it’s definitely on the list of desirable items but obviously not a must have.

It has impressed me most with the stability it gives when swerving at high speed to miss a pothole

Me too, I chose them because the 21" CT wheels are by far my favourite on offer for a Taycan but it is scary for the tyres around here, the roads are appaling - in fact some drives I just take our Prius...
