In my fourth year of Taycan ownership and one thing that has always bugged me is the lack of push notifications for the my Porsche app. So much so, that it has me doubting whether it’s the app, or something I have setup incorrectly.

Let me explain….
I charge the car, domestically, to 100% in anticipation of a long journey. The app will send a push notification when the car is fully charged. All good.

However, my charger decides to throw a wobbly, mid-charge, and the car goes into an error state. No push notification.

This has happened to me during an HPC charging session too. Still no push notification. Upshot being you are blissfully unaware there’s a problem until you either log into the app to check on progress, or you return to the car to find it hasn’t charged. The latter being the most annoying of the two scenarios.

This is so dumb and something I’ve prayed would be fixed during my three+ year tenure.

Is it just me?

What kinds of push notifications might you hope to see in general? I'll take note and look into adding these in to Electric Sidecar.

just a simple message along the lines of “My Porsche App has detected a charging error”.
That way I can tackle the problem at the time of the error, rather than later.

Thanks.

For me those notifications work in the MyPorsche app. Did you double check the notification settings of your device?

I get:
Porsche Taycan My Porsche App - Charging state, push notifications 1703924475304

but only if I have a timer set, nothing when on a profile only.
Although I would necessarily want notifications. I have an ‘intelligent’ energy tariff which integrates with my EVSE and it frequently stops and starts the charging process intentionally.

I have had a charge error message or charging ended (can’t remember) on my Apple Watch. This saved during a road trip. We were getting coffee and after 5 minutes it showed the message and I returned to the car and switched IONITY chargers. I think it was a message from Porsche charging service that the charging session ended and not directly from the app. So probably wouldn’t have had it when charging with another card.

I also get a message on my watch that the connection is accepted even before the charging light turn green.

Maybe the functionality is better with the watch ?

When my AC charger is in solar only mode I also get a charging fault message on my phone when the power is cut because of clouds.

It happened to me yesterday, stopped to charge and went to have a coffee. When I return after 15 minutes charging was stopped because of an error. The app didn't send any notification, stupid!

I don't know what's going on with Porsche but they really not moving the EV game forward.
Is obvious that the Taycan app/software is developed by a startup that it's getting axed because the improvements over time are minimal.

I hope the new software team will be able to make a stable version of this PCM or even upgrade
to the Android platform.

I get none of those.

I switched to Octopus Intelligent yesterday and at 1am my Andersen charger reported an RCM error state. The charger app alerted but nothing from the My Porsche app. Not a lot I could do at 1am as I was asleep so just reset the charger via the Andersen app when I awoke. However, this has happened to me at motorway services (my previous Taycan) and I only discovered the issue by checking on the charging process from within the app.

I get push notifications (all switched on in my iOS settings) for fully charged but nothing for error states. So I wondered if it was a setting within the My Porsche app, although I’m yet to find anything remotely possible.

*Edit
I’m aware I’m on an intelligent tariff and it’s usual for the charge to start and stop according to the grid and its demand, however, when this occurs the charging app shows the battery in blue. It’s the red error message that I’d love an alert from and not the pause state.

This is what I am on about.
Sorry it happened to you, but glad it’s not just me.

Had the car 2 months now and love it, the biggest frustration is these messages which are getting increasingly frustrating. They amount to false messages for me, for example:

Car plugged in to charge with profile (45% min) and timer (charge to 85%, preferred times midnight to 5am). Plenty of time to charge but get messages throughout the night and also in evening before any charging starts (these seem to be linked to whenever I go open the app it pings message - suspect app wakes car to check status and as charging suspended says cannot reach charge).

Without disabling all messages in iPhone settings from the My Porsche app how can I stop these spurious/false negative messages?

What are you plugging into whilst in the boonies? 110V?
Andersen single phase home charger and the service station that I mentioned was gridserve.
I don’t think this really makes a difference as the car refuses to notify of an error state regardless of what I’m plugged into.
