Hi all, I have a question that I cannot find the answer to anywhere. If I send a destination through to the navigation from the MyPorsche app, I cannot find it in the car when I am about to set off.

I have searched all the options I can think of in the car and I have searched here for any answers and even the online manual and still cannot find it.

Can anyone please help me to identify where this can be found?

Thanks in advance.

If you send a destination to your car via the MyPorsche app, there should be a message displayed in the PCM. It says something like destination received and asks you if you would like to go there. If you click yes it should start to plan the route.

However the function is not always reliable. The app will tell you it has been sent to the vehicle, but the vehicle does not always receive it. Stuck somewhere in the Porsche servers.

I have a success rate of about 4 - 5 out of 10 attempts. Not sure where it fails though.

Thanks @Scandinavian . I have tried this twice and not had the message come up. So it is likely just a connection/server issue and not something I am doing wrong...

For me it works most of the time but I have had a few failures, usually when it is most inconvenient.

Good to know it can work @f1eng . I will give it ago again today and see if I get a 100% failure rate or a 33% success rate...

For me the destination sent from the app normally shows up when entering the navigation system in the car and then entering search mode without searching for anything. Sometimes wondering if it’s a pull and not a push-message ?

Amazes me how lame this key feature is implemented in Porsche - our new Mini has this service and it works seamlessly and 100% of the time to date using the same phones and networks I.e. clearly a Porsche specific server/software issue imo.

Interesting replies here. I'd say I have a 90-95% success rate with it reaching the car, however I am fair to realize that the car needs to wake up, and handshake with the servers. So I would never expect it is ready to go the moment I get into the car. That said, Tesla has had this feature for nearly a decade and it worked faster there, but they have low latency servers and develop software that is leaps & bounds above others. So unfair comparison to some degree.

FWIW, the OP asked about finding past destinations, and his is something that does annoy me. It's been a few years since I had a BMW but from what I recall in that software there was a place in the Navigation on the car side to find past/previously sent destinations. So even if it did not pop up/alert, you could go back and find them. In the Porsche Taycan I've never discovered such a place.

I've had it occur where the pop up happens but I accidentally hit wrong button or such that it goes away, and there is no way to go back retrieve it from a list of recently sent destinations; that annoys me.

Can be a hit or a miss and make sure you send it to the correct Porsche if you have e more than 1 ?

Poor connectivity to the car could be the issue and particularly if the car has been sleeping for a while. Best to ensure you are connected and then send a destination.

Great when it works!

For me, I would say it's about a 50% success rate that it gets to the car.

And if it does, then about 50% of the time it just pops up on the PCM, or the same if I have to go into the 'search' bar on the satnav - and then it pops up.

No rhyme or reason to which it will be.

It frequently fails for me. So I now add it as a favourite before I send it to the car. It is then easy to find when in the car. If it is only a single use place I can easily delete it
That is a good way of getting this to work.

It is great that we all find alternative ways to get the most basic features to work. But it would be very nice if things could start to work as promised.

I just had my car in for a few updates and checks. It was in the workshop two weeks. 5 days later I get a message that my car needs another recall and I have to bring it back in again. What ever happened to the promised OTA updates?? We had a huge activity 2 or 3 years ago, to download sw so that this could work. And since then I have not received a single OTA apart from irritating map updates.

Yes it could be bad coverage from the cellular networks of course. But in such case it should pop up once coverage has improved, no? I get frequent messages that the 5 minute preconditioning has finished and all data from battery levels and range are synchronised, but still destination fails. Maybe another WOTA update is needed?

I got curious so I tested 2 different scenarios...
  1. Send destination to car (but also hit the star icon to make sure it shows up in favorites)
  2. Only hit star icon but don't send anything to the car
Here are the results:
  1. I got a pop-up alert after I clicked the nav icon in the car that there was a new destination. I cleared that pop-up and the destination also appeared in the favorites section of nav.
  2. As expected, no notification of this other destination BUT it also appeared in the favorites section of the nav.
Again, I was just curious and wanted to share my findings with the community.

[NOTE: I also have a cellular booster in my garage so all connectivity functions seem to work great for me]

Thanks all for your replies. I went out earlier and it unfortunately didn't work, so that's 3 out of 3 not working. I was in the app with the car connected before is sent it. I will keep trying as it was indeed a useful feature in my previous X5.
