If you have ACC I am not aware of a way to move it to “standard CC”. If you know how, please let us all know how to do this
From memory: you press the little button under the ACC stalk and use the scroll wheel to move the option from "ACC" to "Limiter" - which just sets a fixed speed limit.

I would never do this: ACC way safer.

Maybe for economics it would be better to use standard CC mode and switch it off your self when approaching another car.
CC it self is more efficient when driving
This is what I do on the rare occasion I drive in motorway traffic.

Dash it, if I had known it was possible to switch ACC off when I didn't want it I would have specced it

Travel charger / Destination charging @ 22 kW

Found a 3-phase 400V outlet near the Tesla chargers (which are free) so plugged in our travel charger. This is why we carry it!

It also handles the quirky Norwegian earth system with a dedicated mode.

You can also use the porsche mobile charger plus, but with some intricate button pressing to switch between the earthing modes - takes me 5 attempts every time.

Destination charge with Juice Booster 2 EVSE completed / Frunk equipment

Went out early this morning to pack away our EVSE and move the car.

Porsche Taycan Taycan to the Norwegian Fjords (Summer 2024 Trip Journal) IMG_1857

The travel EVSE sitting on the grass – and in the overnight rain – delivered 80 kWh of energy at 22 kW without an issue.

We can highly recommend the Juice Booster 2 for road-trip travel in Europe. Granted, with the charging infrastructure improving all the time – it really is more of an "emergency" or unusual situation charger. But a great insurance to have and we still feel it is worth carrying with us everywhere.

There are a lot of sockets – sometimes in surprising places – that it can allow you to plug into.

Porsche Taycan Taycan to the Norwegian Fjords (Summer 2024 Trip Journal) IMG_1857

The EVSE coiled away in our frunk.

Porsche Taycan Taycan to the Norwegian Fjords (Summer 2024 Trip Journal) IMG_1857

Our full trunk for this summer trip consists of only:
  • Juice Booster 2 EVSE + travel adaptors
  • 4000 kg tow cable (we used this in Norway in winter – and you never know when we might pull in too far to let a camper van pass – and need a tow out from a friendly Norwegian with a jeep; 3mm be damned!).
  • 22 kW Type 2 charging cable.
  • Porsche Windscreen cleaner concentrate
  • EU Warning Triangle

As there was some discussion earlier on 3-phase 480 volt 22 kW public charging cables, here is the specs on our one:

Day 9: Drive around Balestrand (Norway)

The plan is for a days driving around the Lustrafjorden and to generally follow the Sognefjellet National Scenic Route.

We queue for the short ferry across to Hella.

Despite the light rain – the fjord is looking promising.

As we had an early breakfast at our hotel - we stop off at a Circle K for some on-the-go food. The food at petrol stations is much better than back home in Ireland.

We pass many quant churches over looking the water.

The day starts to brighten up and the rain recedes.

There are plenty of "pulling-in" places today – something there isn't enough of in Norway - there is so much to see!

Car still looking reasonably well/clean after a week on the road.

Looking to the calm water from the "top" of the fjord.

There are just so many picturesque scenes around every bend.

We probably should have pulled in a bit better here

We reach Jotunheimen National Park – a popular hiking area – and climb up to 1392 meters. The Turbo S just loves motoring up the steep road and pulls out of the hairpin bends with enough energy to pin you back in your seat – despite the 18% incline.

Time to turn back – gliding down the road to again recuperate over 5% of battery.

We decide to travel back on the other side of the fjord – which has a much narrower road – often it is just the two meters width of our car.

At the end of the road – it doesn't go all the way around the fjord – we plan to cross over here by ferry.

Porsche Taycan Taycan to the Norwegian Fjords (Summer 2024 Trip Journal) 53930171291_c6f66332b9_o

Unfortunately, the ferry is tiny – the smallest we've seen in Norway - and it is both full and the last ferry of the day! Duh, so much for our record of great planning! We need to add "last ferry times" into our future planning documentation.

Porsche Taycan Taycan to the Norwegian Fjords (Summer 2024 Trip Journal) 53930171291_c6f66332b9_o

After discussion with the ferry operator – we have no choice but to go back the narrow road we came and return to the hotel via the route we took earlier today – adding about 100 km to the our plan.

But hey – we came to drive the fjords – so we're not complaining.

We push on – with traffic light on this rarely used road.

Right down by the fjord.

We have two related challenges we're facing: (a) will we have enough battery energy for the double-back and (b) will be get back in time for 21:00 closing of the local restaurants and/or hotel bar? We could stop at a few Mer or Eviny high-speed chargers for a few mins but that will put us further behind time-wise.

We decide to trust our PCM estimation – which has us arriving at the hotel with 4% battery remaining – and drive on to the ferry at Hella to cross back to our island village of Balestrand.

Making the ferry in plenty of time.

Porsche Taycan Taycan to the Norwegian Fjords (Summer 2024 Trip Journal) 53930621495_54ee7df276_o

Car looking sleek in the queue – it is amazing how low the Taycan is compared to "normal" cars these days.

On-board for the short ten minute crossing.

Porsche Taycan Taycan to the Norwegian Fjords (Summer 2024 Trip Journal) 53930621495_54ee7df276_o

With 8% battery remaining – PCM estimates again proving very accurate – even in this mountainous environment.

Pulling into our hotel at the predicted 4% for a travel ESVE provided destination charge.

My co-driver runs to the hotel bar to order with 13 minutes to spare before last food orders! Great teamwork as always!

We've wanted to drive around the fjords of southern Norway for so long and it was such a privilege to finally get to do it today!

It might cost 6-8 times if it is a 992. Just my thinking!

Except of course when you meet a massive (for the road) truck coming against you and you have to "do all the work".

We have currently recorded 1.15 TB of dash cam footage covering every meter travelled.

Especially as we're talking 650+hp here and we're pushing up from sea level to 1000 meters on a regular basis.
