Took a quick road trip to test out a Turbo GT. More power than I need ?.. active ride is pretty cool. And the car is gorgeous.

I didn’t think I would like the green color but it is stunning in person.

Personally I prefer a leather steering wheel, and the 14 way seats. Also I think the accelerators initial 5 degrees of movement would get worn out as you can’t actually push down further than that in city driving :) the car has awesome power.

If I liked the 18 way seats and non leather steering wheel I would be all over this though. Pretty cool.

Yes KC. I thought about launching but the area we were at near dealer there wasn’t much straight road. Didn’t launch. Honestly I didn’t even push the pedal all the way down and it was too fast. Maybe on a track push to pass.

they seem motivated to sell it but for that kind of money I would rather order exactly what I want and like everyone else there are no allocations at this time for Turbo. They didn’t expect an allocation until next year.

There are only a few in inventory and KC had one of them, the other is in Riverside which I saw.
I'm believe these will have pretty good discounts by next year if they keep sitting. The J1 was had pretty big discounts on inventory before Covid

I really love the Turbo GT looks compared to the standard Taycans

Yes. I expect there will be a deal to be had on this one. I really wanted to want it.. but it is more car than I need. It doesn’t have massage seats, and the non leather steering wheel I am torn about. I figured the shade green would be a deal breaker but it was very nice.

I mostly wanted to feel active ride and listen to the Burmester sound vs my Bose. I will look for those options in my next Taycan.

The variable light control on the roof is a bit weird.

The Turbo is more my pace. I have adjusted my searches to include in stock with the idea that they likely aren’t moving and a deal could be had. If it was a good enough deal I would pass on PTS.

One interesting thing. This is the second dealer I have talked to that would buy my 4s but didn’t seem interested and preferred not to. In my case I will probably keep it anyway.

I looked at that one online and was very tempted, but it has the leather interior without the ventilated seats. I was on the fence between the Turbo GT interior in RaceTex with GT Silver accents which is cool/interesting and getting ventilated seats (available only with leather) which are great on a hot summer day. Can’t have both is fine, but I know I would have been annoyed to have neither.

I know, first world problems… but if I am going to spend that much on a car even if I can’t build it myself I want to get pretty close.

One did come and pretty quickly recently (a white one, I can’t remember where).

My local dealer in the Bay Area hasn’t gotten any buildable allocations for Turbo or Turbo S. They did get a launch car, but it also wasn’t quite the build I was looking for. My guess is that Porsche is slowing down the pipeline for the higher trims to help with the resale issues / keep some sense of scarcity, at least for the higher trims of the face lifted model.

Btw if you like the massage seats and the Turbo GT was too much power the launch cars for the Turbo have the massage seats… I might have gotten one except that I *love* the 18 way seats. Don’t know if you looked that one of those/how close it comes to what you would build.

Good idea. Until yesterday I was convinced I would wait for an allocation and go PTS (although I can’t decide on a color ?). I got the strong feeling a deal could be had yesterday if I wanted the GT. and I tried to consider at what price point I would want that car :)…. But in the end for me too many items I didn’t need or were missing that I really wanted.

I have adjusted my searches to include MY25 Turbo with active ride and massage seats in hopes some dealer stock has one come in. For the right price I will let go of PTS this go around.

The feature that looked really good to my surprise was the color matched front lower valance (parking curb catcher).

I need ventilated seats even though it's pretty useless compared to cooled seats. I have massage seats which i use everyday, but Its not a requirement

Even though RaceTex is a synthetic plastic based material, I really like it for the steering wheel. It feels good to the touch, warmer and gives you the sensation of better grip.
I will try to always spec this over leather.
I'm a clean freak so I brush it every other day because it will get dirty very fast compared to leather.

Is active ride a requirement for you now?

My dealer in Riverside has some allocations including a Turbo GT if you want to spec it. They aren't difficult to work with for a Porsche dealer.

That whole one was sold. I think it was in Oklahoma or something. It actually looked good on white.

If I'm spending that much money, I better have leather with all the options.
Too bad that they don't do Olea in the Turbo GT

Oh, i don’t think any of the launch cars Turbos have active ride :(

I hadn’t gotten that far down the spec sheet myself.

If the Turbo GT was too fast I bet you might also like a 4S - the gap between the Turbo and Turbo GT isn’t that great. It’s only 80HP / about 10% if you don’t use attack mode / launch etc.

There are two 4Ss out there with active ride and massage seats, one in Fort Worth and one in Charleston. Maybe drive a 4S, see if it’s fast enough, and if you like either of those builds? Or at least if you can expand your search to include 4S, for which there is much more variety of inventory.

Ooh, I might have been tempted by a buildable allocation! But I found one in Austin that was close enough to what I would have done that I grabbed it. My wire should hit their bank Tuesday and the car should be on its way to me shortly thereafter. Excited / will post impressions once I have driven it a bit. (And sorry for the threadjack).

I don’t like the look of the refreshed 4S. I wish I did.

:) I am positive the power will grow on me. I think my biggest blocker will be finding one that a dealer wants to work a deal on that is better than MSRP. Which for now I am content with my MY20 until a great deal comes along.
