My first trip to the USA was to Milwaukee as an exchange student in 1970 and so am aware of how very different the layout and roads are to Europe, and why drag racing is "a thing" there, which was a mystery to me before.

A Taycan is not a big car for most US roads at all.
This is a typical country lane where I live.....not great on anything more than 2 wheels, or a tractor.

One of the reasons I changed the Taycan, it was a big car for me.

So many good and accurate comments here, though # 1 to me is that on forums everyone who has a problem posts up about it; for example everyone with a steering issue will post up about ”my steering issue is” but of the thousands who have never had steering issue, doubt ten have posted that positive news. Some is true of HVAC, wheels/tires, powertrain, battery systems, etc.

So every forum, whether even a Fiat one, negatively distorts and exaggerates the amount of problems with that model or one of its components..

"The Taycan shrinks around you", good quote.
My first rides in the Taycan were quite scary. The flares up front (great reminiscence to my 993) make the front blow up imensely in the beginning.
After a while one gets totally adapted to it.
Another 911 reminiscence: The Taycan feeling can get really close to the 911 feeling chassis-wise.

I have had 27000 km great driving, joy and fun with this stunning car in 2024.
I see no reason doubting the reliability.

Hi, I was equally apprehensive last year when reviewing the various articles pushed in mainstream car publications. I also have been a 911 owner for over 20 years so my expectations for what a Taycan needed to deliver in terms of an all round daily driver were great….im pleased to say that the early days of Taycan 4s (2021) ownership, my experience really has been fantastic. No issues and the car really is supreme. It’s not a 911, with all the theatre and raw driving experience but it is an exciting daily driver that I look forward to getting into for short and long journeys.
In terms of value, my £50k 3 year old Taycan is second to none. I cannot think of another car on the market that delivers the sports driving and technology in a similar package - go for it.
btw, I also took the plunge and brought one off OPC warranty as all the car on dealership forecourt’s were pricing in at least £5k over private forecourts. A 3 year Taycan with good sevicing and all recalls done is more reliable than a £50k merc / Audi

I love the recalls. Things are fixed for free -- upgrades essentially at no cost. Is it a hassle? Not much really. I've had my Taycan 4S for 3 years now and 33000 miles and it is arguably the best car I've ever owned. Is it perfect? Of course not. But it's damn close and a fantastic car. Don't sweat it.

My only piece of advice is don’t sell or trade in your 911S. That's one thing you'll truly regret.
I agree. The Taycan is the best car I've ever owned (25,000 miles and ticking) with only one issue due to the failed heater.

My recommendation is that you keep the 911 S and buy a Taycan to add to your garage. Then come back in 6 moths and tell us how much you're driving each! My guess is that you'll fall in love with the Taycan ?

I had similar concerns to in regard to reliability. but pulled the trigger on CPO Taycan Turbo S about a week ago. It's a stunning car, who knows if I'll have problems, but I ensured that all recalls had been done, latest software updates and I checked the battery tray on collection of the car.

As another poster was saying it is a wide car, but I've found it actually feels smaller when you're driving it and almost shrinks around you. I live in the UK and there are some narrow roads, the thing that is really worrying me though is UK multi-storey car parks, it's like someone designed them to only fit small hatchbacks. The on-ramps are narrow as well as the parking bays, so that will be a fun experience for me!!
Regarding the car parks -- Start thinking about valet parking, and set the Valet Alarm on the MyPorsche app (radius of 3280 ft. speed 31 mph). A small price to pay, and because the car is a stunner they'll probably leave it up front.

Best car I've ever owned. Three years tomorrow. Never unreliable and has only been to the shop for Porsche updates or recalls. Long multi-hour drives or just a couple of clicks it's fantastic to drive. My wife (as a passenger) still spuriously says, "I love this car."

I remember as a child in the 1950s my Dad used to reverse up hills sometimes because reverse gear was lower than 1st. I don't remember having to walk though.

Of the other story my grandmother who was born in 1898 lived on a farm in Lincolnshire 6 miles from the village her school was in so she and her siblings walked 12 miles a day regardless of weather.

She died in 1999, I often ponder how much change she experienced in her lifetime, plus 2 wars where a huge proportion of her generation were slaughtered and then the second where so many of the survivors lost their children.
You honor your grandmother by holding her so close in your memory, and sharing her story. I am so glad that people like you and her are in our world.

At the end of the day, our Porsche issues are on the recedingly small end of the curve of important problems facing the world - both then and now.

100% agree, keep the 911 in the garage for high days and holidays and just to know it’s there when needed ?

That is what I thought with my old Ferrari but actually since I have had the Taycan I have left it on SORN.

I've been shopping around and wondering the same as OP because I've read lots of horror stories. One thing I've noticed is, every taycan older than 2024 has the open battery recall with no solution, except to wait until Q1 of 2025 for them to load monitoring software that will warn you if there's an issue with the HV battery. That sounds nice but monitoring for a known problem isn't really solving it, and what does a detected failure look like? Does my car brick it self like owners are already experiencing?

For this reason, I've been looking at solely 2024's, but I can't find any information on why the 2024's don't have the recall, they seem to use the same battery from LG. Anyone know? I'm hoping it's not just because it's too new and they haven't had MY24's experience the battery issues yet.

2 issues under 2,5 Years and 47k km.
- Charger door (mechanical) failure stopped to be able DC charge - under warranty.
- 11kW onboard charger needed to be replaced - after warranty. Would cost me EUR3,1k, paid EUR600 'only' because it happened very close to the end of warranty (24 months in EU).

Reliability is one thing other is depreciation that is huge. 50% of original price after 2,5 years. Same age and milage 911 holds 70-80%.
Can't save on fuel, service, parking, taxes etc. far as much as the diff of a depreciation.
If no need the extra space 911 is the clear winner.

Though love the car in every aspects, but loosing too much money to own.
Will need to keep it long (ca. 7 years) that is another 4,5 years, we will see where we are that time.

If I knew this (depreciation) I would buy a 911 for similar price keeping a 4 year car change/low dep Porsche life.
