Brought my 23 GTS sedan in today for recalls and update …

One of recalls was brake hose and fluid flush -
The front brake lines were changed and system bled. The front lines do contain new fluid, however the system was not fully flushed as the rear lines were not opened.

The brake pedal certainly feels firmer …

Had them check the tires(20k on tires) , I knew they my Conti All season (which I happen to like) had 1/32 on all 4 in inner wheel (4/32 middle)- due to negative camber these cars run that’s a typical wear pattern - all 4 were equally worn and have to be honest , I drove it bit of snow and rain last 2 weeks and it handled perfectly …

Had them throw on a pair of Contis , as I’m happy with them and that’s all they had access to at moment…

Was poking around lot and they had a beautiful turbo Macan (gentian), much larger than I thought..

They gave me a 4cyl turbo Macan, absolutely underpowered and boring car to drive

Since I just bought a targa unexpectedly about 6 weeks ago I thought for a millisecond I’d entertain a Macan EV lease to replace Taycan …

So, I had then appraise my Taycan - 2 years old (Jan 2nd) -152msrp….

Appraisal came in at 75k….

As expected, I put the thought about a Macan EV out of my head, makes 0 financial sense

Pollen filter was pretty filthy, I bought it at pelican parts and had dealer install (125$) - I’m 2 lazy and can barely turn a screw

After the key fob post , I got a quote on a new Fob as I lost one - 825$(279$ is programming)

Although grateful for a loaner I Couldn’t wait to get back my Taycan after driving around in the 4cyl, I never thought I’d miss all that power as much as I did ..

After 2 years , I still absolutely LOVE this car….

I understand some have had major complications , but if you get lucky and get a reliable one - dang, they are just pure joy …

Brake Hoses included full brake fluid flush for me (each corner) and PSM update. I was there to watch the process, so you saying only front was bled is suspect.

Filter needs to be changed every 6 months or 10k miles at minimum. I do this myself and at $30 for 2 of them and 15 min of time is worth having a fresh and clean filter.

FOB replacement is wow expensive. I did it once on a Macan ICE and it was $500 or so with programming.

Have you driven Macan EV? I did a RWD, 4, and 4S for a day. Interior feels like a van and drives like a large SUV, so I am hoping Macan Turbo EV is better but cannot find one to test drive.

I have not driven one ..

But here’s the email response when I asked about fluid flush

“The front brake lines were changed and system bled. What that means is that the front lines do contain new fluid, however the system was not fully flushed as the rear lines were not opened”

$75k for a '23 GTS with full 2 years is fair trade offer, I'm presuming this is the trade value, not an outright sale value?

I have not driven the new Mcan EV, although I did ride in one and on numerous occasions have poked around the cabin. My initial reaction to the car is that it is just incredibly small. The frunk is near useless, and the trunk size feels smaller than a wagon, though it is likely larger than j1 sedan.

J1.1 Taycan still ftw overall. I get lots of compliments, stares and thumbs up for my GTS ST

I have a friend whose car is in now for it at my dealer. I will ask him now if there is any evidence that brake fluid flush can only be done to the fronts. Also, need to check the TSB that may have the procedure on what is actually done.

I am comparing Macan GTS sporty interior that is wrapped around you to Macan EV that felt van like too big to be sporty with endlessly deep drink holder pit I only saw in vans, flat seats, Bose sounded horrible with no mid range at all and do not get me started on quality, awful. The last one I drove had charging port cover sticking out. They are rushing them out, Tiguan style.

I am trying to figure out if full brake flush is performed during ARB0 since we have conflicting information about it and the TSB is not specific if only front lines are flushed. I am pretty sure observing the process that they bled all 4 brake lines with the brake pedal pressed all the way in with the device.

Ugh. I don't even want to know what my '23 GTS is worth now at nearly 20K miles.
And yeah, it's definitely affecting the sales of their newer EVs.

I'm just hoping the EV Boxster comes out before my car is worth more as scrap.

@SergeyIndy - some confusion on just what is done and when. ARB0 for the brake hoses does not mention a brake flush. WPK0 to reprogram the PSM specifically states that the the brake system must be "ventilated". First the electric brake booster and then the rest of the system "using the PSM ventilation routine." Having WPK0 done when the brake hoses are replaced results in a full, and correct, brake ventilation/flush. Just replacing the brake hoses (ARB0) would not require a full flush. My guess, since you saw the 4 wheel "ventilation" is that WPK0 was done for your car.

Interesting point. Yes, I got both done ARB0 and WPK0.

EV Boxster will probably be delayed. They are having thermal challenges with the battery pack setup apparently - and on top, the company they were working with for the cells has gone bankrupt

Why would you flush the lines? They remove the line and plug it. They use a pressure bleeder to push through fluid until no air bubbles. There is no reason to flush.

Hoping that’s just a rumor.

Nope - it’s true from what we are hearing as we have been involved in some of the s/w work.
