In Switzerland, most people with a 911 buy one for their Instagram account, to gloat to other people, and never go above 120 km/h.
Car as status symbol is not a new phenomenon, social media is just the 21st century way of doing it. I remember growing up, my dad used to say that most people work around to clock to spend money they can barely afford on things they don't really use, just so that they can impress their friends, family, and neighbors. Social media just lets you control what people see to a higher degree, and of course reach more people. It does however offer new opportunities, like virtual status symbols! Enter NFC's! IIRC Porsche tried dipping their toe in NFC's already. Porsche management wet dream, no need to build any physical cars, just digital pictures! Almost pure profit, no recalls to worry about. The NFC could even be an AI generated picture of a Porsche car in your garage. Everyone knows it's fake, but they can also go on the blockchain to verify that you in fact paid for that picture to Porsche, so you get bragging rights without having the hassle to keep the car clean, maintained, insured, give a safe place to park, etc. You could live in a one bedroom apartment but own 5 virtual Porsche cars (bought with the money you saved by living in a small apartment). :CWL:

You are right — posturing (as old as humans), is primarily directed toward one’s immediate environs. Social media, for those who care, simply amplifies the reach. However, rebadged base models won’t cut it — that’s for the “poor”. While, NFTs aren’t physical and require much more active effort to show off.

Your cost cutting ideas are useful (for the aspiring posturer), but undermines the image these people seek or want to project, especially to their closest circles.

The art of actively eliciting awe or envy is often expensive and convoluted. When done effortlessly and unintentionally, it’s neither — an image most posturers aspire to project.

Btw, let’s give Camry-style performance car drivers a break. Sometimes, people just want to relax and take it slow. ?

I followed a Panamera Turbo last night. OGM! Forget Camry style, I'm not sure the owner has located the accelerator in their car yet, it seemed the car just accelerated on idle, eventually hitting the speed limit, then going it beyond it too (the car actually reached 50mph in a 35 zone, but it took a good minute to get to that speed, so less than 1mph per second of acceleration). They also didn't use their turn signals once (probably also doesn't know where that control is), changed lanes and took turns as if he (or she, it was dark, tinted windows) was riding a cow - got on the cow, point it in a general direction, hoping to make it to the destination.

Sorry, had to vent. Such a waste of a performance sedan. The owner could have saved a bunch of money buying the base version and sticking a Turbo decal on the back.
Or have been sober...

It crossed my mind, but they did not weave back and forth like impaired drivers tend to do, not even on a straight road. They just drove as if they couldn't see any lane markings (but saw road boundaries), the accelerator pedal was stuck in idle, and turn signals were not operational.

I only get annoyed by things I can change.
I have a small rattle in my door or dash but can't seem to find it...?
Is it an ST/CT? If so, make sure the two hooks in the boot/trunk are folded out. They help clamp the parcel shelf in position and stop it rattling. This rattle when driving sounds like it’s coming from the dash/door area.

To clarify, the user manual calls them side ledges. The rear pair have baggage hooks on them. It’s easy to leave the rear pair folded in. If they are left folded in, the parcel shelf rattles against the rear boot/trunk lid when closed. Folding them out as per the user manual holds the shelf firmly in place when the rear hatch back is closed.

And those hooks proof very handy as a bag is kept firmly in place with the lid closed.

I agree with everything, and the list goes on.
Many people including myself has a list of things that Taycan can improve, but still love the car because of driving experience.

But the funny thing is I've never seen a single Taycan drives fast or make aggressive turn on a road, I'm not referring to reckless driving, just every Taycan I saw drive like a Camry.
Then you need to join me on the backroads north of San Francisco. No slow turns allowed.

I just carry 2 collapsible crates in my trunk, they work great at containing any shopping I choose to stow in the trunk. I have used the hooks a handful of times when the crates were full, but that is rare.

I had similar.
Couldn't find the rattle. Turned out the rear top mount on the passenger side had cracked.
Ask your dealer to check them when you're next visiting.
Hard to describe, but more of a gentle chirping / rubbing sound rather than a rattle.

Washed the car yesterday, open the boot and some of the water drains in to the boot. Silly design.
