When the Volvo XC90 upgraded their plugin battery, the old XC90 battery that needs replacement was swapped with the higher capacity battery. I know type registrations would be a hassle and probably why Porsche mentions that it would add any range or power (to adhere to the VT registration), but here’s hoping that they will be more flexible for the future. I am just happy with the options for the retrofit.

Adding in the issue of the rivet drill limit (the battery case can only be opened and resealed 3 times) there would be a risk of these cars becoming worthless - would you buy one that had already had battery packs replaced twice?
My Taycan had twice a module replaced, then 6 months ago the whole pack. Does that mean it can never be fixed again?

My wife already said, don't by Porsche again, too much fixing...

I would suppose it depends on whether the battery case is the original one. If it is and you need another module in the future then I believe they can‘t rivet it again as the holes are now too large and they would have to replace the case as well.

You should have 8 years warranty on the battery, so my view would be that should it need further replacements in the future you might benefit from a brand new J1.2 version, which would potentially be a benefit rather than a concern.

But I’m currently not responsible for Porsches strategy in this matter so it’s all conjectur.

there are threads on this forum regarding the battery case rivet issue I just can’t find it right now!

Let's hope they update the PCM for the J1.1 also, wrinkle some more bugs out of it and introduce the new chargeplanner from the J1.2. Oh sorry, forgot I was only dreaming...

I see, case means battery pack case, and has nothing to do with the chassis of the car...

I am not exactly sure what they replaced, but it looked like the entire pack with case...

I really want to keep driving my Prosche for the forseeable future. Hard to go out and buy anything else. There is still so little exciting new EVs out there...

It is great the J1.2 battery can be retrofitted to J1.1 cars, Porsche not abandoning the original vehicles. Will be interesting to see if anyone on here gets one.

The battery warranty on 2024 J1.1 models is 8 years. Also, in Germany, I understand that automotive manufacturers are generally considered to have an obligation to supply replacement parts for a minimum of 10 years after a vehicle model is discontinued - so one kind of battery or another will need to fit J1.1 up until 2034 at least.

They will also need to service cars for recalls, if any new ones will happen (likely), even outside that 8 year warranty.

So, no new TI has been sent to NHTSA from porsche since January.
So if this was released on 25 Feb, as it said in the leaked internal post, it's likely a internal only TI, or maybe it will be sent quite a bit later to NHTSA.

I guess the wait continues ?

Nonsense, Porsche is calling it J1.2 not J11 and J1.2 is not next gen, just a facelift. So this screenshot seems like a fake with false information.
i’m the one who originally posted that screenshot in Facebook and making fake pics is not something I have time to waste on
