Pretty sure I received something similar last year; a survey about OTA, and if I was willing to test it. It also asked other questions related to taycan, what do I think is bad and what do I think is good on the taycan and stuff like that.

Nothing followed.

So maybe this time next year, they send a 3rd survey and something actually starts

Got the same 1yr+ back. No feedback thereafter. Perhaps now they take it more serious?

I think it's just the PR department trying to show that they care in some way, given all the recalls and bad media around the Taycan.
I don't think they actually care enough to hire proper software devs to make OTA work...

But that is just my opinion

It could be. No clue....but there is so much more in it if OTA ever comes. Tesla is a good example when it comes to that. Updates all the time. And some useful ones too.

I'm not sure if it's just for the MY25, but my Porsche App includes OTA updates:

Yes, so does ours from 2019-2024.

Doesn’t mean Porsche actually uses it, because most ECU modules don’t have a proper install/rollback solution, so OTA is too risky to use for most things. That is still the case in 2025.

For OTA to work in any useful manner, it would involve development of the software running each ECU from all the providers that Porsche uses. Unlikely to happen.

Until then OTA does only map updates and the occasional small update to the few ECU that do have an “update” functionality, like the communication module.

Ahh... that makes sense. Thanks Chun.

I guess we shall see......

Coming from a Model S, I have to say Tesla does a good job with OTA updates, though not without the occasional hiccup. But then, I would expect that, given Tesla's tech pedigree. Wouldn't go back in a million years.

Actually that option was present for me in the App since this year, but somehow disappeared some weeks ago, no clue why.

Yes, I am still in the first three years.
I think the car needs to have internet connectivity for a while for it to show up. Not sure.
Could also be related to the WRV1 update

No clue. Connectivity is always there, also at the parking spot. And I had this in the app for quite a while. It actually disappeared after one of the iOS App updates, but I don't remember if this was directly after an update. We will see, I opened a ticket at Porsche Connect Support.

I got a survey last year about OTA, but I don’t remember any questions about a pilot group? If I had seen that, I definitely would have opted in.
